You might want to post these in a non-compressed (not MP3) mode so a difference can be heard! Sounds all the same to me.

And I think we've established it's "Do ya" not "Do you"... you know, rhymes with Hallelujah...
You're spending a lot of time angsting over microphone choice. Just buy one and start recording and you'll learn how to get the best out of what you have - at this stage, working on your voice in a recorded context will reap you greater dividends than running around Toronto trying out a million mics...

You may be right about the rest, but it's up to me how I wanna sing the song and its not established. Some sing it one way and others the other way.

Trust me, nobody who listens to your finished recording is going to listen to it and start teasing you about your choice of microphone.
If you can afford a 4040, then by the darn 4040 and start making tunes and get on with it. Besides, what if all of us vote for the mic sound that you dont' like? Are you really going to put your own taste aside and buy what we tell you to buy?
Pick the one you like and go back to work.
