On a serious note, I have listened to the OP's music, and it reminded me of any of 100 bands that are out there right now. IMHO, if you are playing music that sounds like the pop crap that is popular now, you are covering a genre, so still a cover.

There isn't a thing new under the sun. I've said that before. So no one, and I mean NO ONE can claim that they only do originals. Search your song lyrics, check out your chord progressions. I'll bet that you can find no less than 1000 songs that use the same phrases in the lyrics, the same chord progressions. Where do you think that comes from? Everyone starts out doing covers. To suggest that you have a 1000 to 1 ratio of covers to originals is not only lying to yourself, it's absurd.

I don't think you guys can quite understand where I'm coming from.

Think McCain and Palin voters. Not people who vote on the issues, but because she's hot. Still hanging out with their high school buddies and thinking that they're one gig from making it big.

The most ignorant and assholish douches on the planet with mullets and race issues come up from the depths to live the part of "The Metal Gods" (actual quote) they worship. Seriously, we're talking people who think Ratt and Warrant were the height of "Heavy, hard Metal" This isn't an age thing or a genre thing. Cover bands in Rhode Island are where assholes and racist white guys go to relive the last time they were respected in life. Usually sophmore year in High School. The problem is they announce to the world that they are the scene and the reason any of us are in original bands is that we can't play covers. Course then they end up covering a song by a local band that's made a bit of fame.

Think the boyfriend from "Baby Mama" in ten years and multiply that by 6 kids and 6 guys.
