I've made two plans. One with the minimum acoustic treatment i'd recommend and a more ideal version. The more ideal could also be improved, but it would cost a lot.

What is your ceiling height? Hopefully 10'. If it's 8', then 16' dimensions won't be perfect. It's better than square, but multiples(8, 16, 32) aren't usually recommended either.

Nice! The one thing that might be an issue is having the WC next to the booth. If the booth is isolated properly and the plumbing done right it should be okay though.

I thought that too, but it would be like that anywhere. Only place it would be ok is the control room, but then you would need a booth or something to even out the back, keeping it symmetrical, which would be the same problem and reduce the size of control room.

I agree...after trying a bunch of different layouts, the one you did makes the most sense to me too.

To the OP: I think Pandamonk has a great idea going here...

Thanks.

Aww that quote of mine is terrible. I changed my mind about what i'd say half way through. I've since edited it. :o

thanks so much guys.
I really appreciate the time spent on the diagrams Pandamonk.

I think I've got a pretty good space to build a project studio.

I'm a full time musician right now, and am on the road a lot.
This will be a great way to help earn a living doing something else I love to do.
I'm nuendo based right now, but also have a Tascam TSR 8 and a great Allen and Heath GS3000 that I recently shipped over from the UK where I'm originally from.

I have a lot of work ahead of me, but I'm really stoked about getting the studio set up for business.

No probs.

Yeah you're a lucky bastard!!! I want that space and equipment! :D

Little update on my home rig. I got an amazing deal from a producer friend of mine I used to work with. A 002 rack for $400. I love it so far.
