Same here it works fine.

Something must have happened during transfer then. By chance could one or both of you email attach to me at jeffsounds@yahoo.com please? I'll try to download again but just to be on the safe side. ;)

I live in the sticks and I'm on dialup and for some reason downloading ANYTHING is a major pain! But email attach usually works.

Thanks!

It's too large [15mb]to send through Yahoo. They have a 10mb limit.

7String,

You can use the ftp address you sent me. :D

I tried that too. It downloads for about 3 minutes and then quits as if it is done. I end up with a WORSE file than when I transfer direct from the site! AAARRRGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!

I guess I'll just have to go to the library tomorrow and use their high speed access... :(

You can't wait to get started!:)
I can see this will be a cool project!

TaDa!

You got that right!!!! And guess what? I got it! Apparently when I loaded the MP3 into my software it messed up. So I converted it to WAV format and VIOLA (or cello or whatever that word is)! It's all there!

Ok, let's get it figgered out here. I'm assuming that we're going to try to do this as close to the original as possible? Is this going to be a "everybody gets to record their own version using the drums as a basis" or is it, "Everybody contribute different parts to make one kick-ass version, which is MY hope? If it's the latter:

We need someone for bass guitar. Do we prefer a REAL bassist? I.E. somebody who's FIRST instrument is bass?

Rythm guitar anyone?

I would like to do the FIRST part of the solo, i.e. the first time through the F#m, A, E progression. It would be cool as hell if someone took the second time through and then someone ELSE take the third time, or the bridge part.

Now, keyboards... wow, there's an organ, piano and some slight strings as well as a low end somethingoranother going on. Do we want to split that up amongst different keyboardist? Or one keyboardist to do it all? Volunteers?

Vocals: I don't remember who it was but SOMEBODY said they wanted to try the vocals.

Background vocals anybody?

Anything I missed?

Who wants to mix it?

Man, this could be a great collab!

My intention was the latter, yes. Sounds like you have made a good plan there. I would like for all of the instruments to be real except of corse the keyboard stuff, but if somebody has a real organ, of a real period synth, use that. Not midi. I would also like if after it was mixed, it was mixed into two versions. One version digital, and one version mastered on tape, then back to digital. There is a guy whi wanted to do vocals, and I wanted to do the breath reprise vocals. We need a female vocalist or vocalists,
to do the background.

How could I forget the female backgrounds???? ;)

Well, I've got a real hammond, and have vst of rhodes etc.. so if it's still open I'd like to give the keyboards a try. And if no-one else volunteers for it I'll give the second guitar solo (D, Amaj7, D etc) a go.

I'll be able to sing most of the vocal parts [lead and harmony]. The female vocals might be a bit out of my range. Someone will need to track the rhythm guitar and maybe some keys first. It would be sort of tricky to sing to a straight drum track. :D

I think the rhythm guitar and a bass track would be great to start things off, eh? Maybe if you sing the female parts an octave lower and then use a pitch bender? hahaha

Sorry... ;)

EDIT: Oh, and I'm guessing that the tracks should all be DRY (with the exception of the drum track obviously)? No effects? Let whomever volunteers to mix it make the decisions on effects, panning, etc., correct?

When the time comes, I'll post the raw drum tracks in 24 bit wavs for mixing. I don't have much experience so I don't want to pre-mix the drums.

So, what parts have been covered already?

NightFlight - drums
ocnor - lead vocals
propman - Breathe (Reprise) vocals
Concrete Lake - Hammond Organ/Rhodes piano
7string - first solo
Concrete Lake - last solo if no one else volunteers
7string - second solo if no one else volunteers

WE NEED:

bass guitar
rhythm guitar
female background vocals
anything else I may have missed

For contributing people with no place to upload their files:

Click the link below. Then when the box pops up (if you have windows 6 or above) just click CANCEL. Once it says that it can't display the page, click on PAGE and go down to OPEN FTP SITE IN WINDOWS EXPLORER. When THAT box pops up, enter the username and the password and then you should be able to drag and drop right to the folder. If THAT box doesn't pop up, go to FILE>LOG IN AS and enter the info. I've tested it and it works fine so let me know if you have any problems.

Also, it might be a good idea to make sure your username is included in the filename so that they can be kept straight. EXAMPLE: 7string_1st_solo.wav.

When you have finished uploading your files please post that you have uploaded and the link.

There's also a synth with a deep Brass sound, which gives it a "dramatic" effect. And a guitar throughout the song.

I'm confused about the "first solo" "second solo" thing. There is only one guitar solo in that song. We are talking about the song "Time" are we not?

Correct. One solo. But I thought we were breaking it up into three sections to allow more people to contribute. The solo part goes through the F#m - A - E - F#m progression four times before going into the bridge part to end the solo. I'll take the first 2 times through the F#m - A- E - F#m, someone else can take the second 2 times through and someone else can have the bridge part.
