Hey
I'm overwellmed with all your thoughts and offers to help. I am expecting to start sending the pay pal requests on friday. I have a somewhat slow week next week so I hope to get a lot done. The thing that is really slowing me down is the computer. I got a new hard drive, cloned it with CCC via FW, re booted from it, and there was no change. My thoughts now is the logic board.

Doubt it. Usually if a logic board is bad, the computer outright crashes or freezes and never recovers. Stalling is usually caused by a buggy process stealing CPU cycles or eating all the RAM (or simply not having enough RAM to begin with).

It is also remotely possible that your computer checked some of your RAM, it failed so badly that the computer didn't recognize it, and the computer disabled the bad banks. I actually saw that happen on a coworker's G5 last week. Of course, in his case, he only had one bank, so the computer wouldn't boot at all about 75% of the time, had filesystem corruption from the times when it did, etc. *sigh*

Interesting. The only thing that gets bogged down is the cursur. When ever I go and move the mouse, it takes a few seconds (about 15 to 20) for the cursur to move. The scroll wheel is not affected. I've tried several mice with no change. Even if I don't click the mouse and just let it sit for a second then go to move it, I have to wait till the cursur catches up with my mouse moves

Weeeeeeird. But the scroll wheel works? That sounds like something really, really silly going on, but I don't have a clue what it could be. :D

Have you tried it on a different USB port? Worth a shot if there's some weird communication breakdown, though I'm not holding my breath.

Are you running any unusual apps? If you type "top -o cpu" in Terminal, do you see one process hogging the CPU?

is this an optical mouse? i don't recall if that was asked and answered before. if not, the actual mouse ball thing might need to be cleaned. if it is an optical mouse, sometimes it's the surface that it's sitting on or the bottom of the mouse needs to be cleaned?

Yes I tried many different mice including a track ball nothing changes

I forgot to mention another small wrench in the spokes. The shock mounts (ACS-24). They sent me mic clips instead. I called my rep and China, but it was sunday in China, but my rep here in LA said they will correct immeadiately. I am hoping to hear something soon. Everything else os OK

On a MAC??
heh, sure -- here's mine:

PID COMMAND %CPU TIME #TH #PRTS #MREGS RPRVT RSHRD RSIZE VSIZE
5621 iTunes 21.8% 3:02:02 13 246 553 20.2M+ 13.3M 32.7M+ 429M+
22995 top 16.2% 0:04.63 1 19 20 584K 732K 1.08M 27.0M
3947 firefox-bi 5.7% 25:38:21 26 >>> 3140 567M+ 59.9M 585M 3.30G
8114 soffice.bi 1.4% 3:14:01 21 577 2328 477M 110M 550M 1.58G

iTunes eating up 21.8%, top itself taking 16.2%, firefox a distant third with 5.7%, and neo office (coming out at soffice, or star office?) trailing - the list keeps going, but I only grabbed the first four.

If you have a resource hogging process that's not essential (if it were a PC, we might think it was spam-sending malware :) ), then that could explain things.

On a MAC??

Yes. Hit command-shift-U in the Finder to open the Utilities folder. Double-click "Terminal.app". Type "top -o cpu", then press return. Command-A (select all), Command-C (copy), then paste the results here.

In other words, free mic clips. :D

UPDATE
Aparently our manufacturer has been sold. This is good and bad. The bad side is the ES-24 shock mount is temporarly unavailable. The good side is the new owner is the "flagship" of China manufacturers. I will post some new and exciting new mics later today.
Between getting these mics out, the fires all around me, and this shock mount thing, I'm going nuts. They said that they will bring the shock mounts to the NAMM show in January. I will cover the shipping out to everyone that has them ordered.
Also I have sent some orders out THAT HAVE NOT PAID FOR SHIPPING! I figure that if you guys trusted me with $30,000.00, I can trust you to pay me the small (by comparison) cost of shipping.

Hey Chance,

Which mics are not going to have shock mounts now? Not sure which ones fit in the ES-24.

Is it possible to cancel the order for the shockmounts and get a refund on them? I wasn't planning on holding onto these mics until January, so if the shockmounts came then they'd be pretty useless.

Thanks,
Ryan

Yes the substituted the "mic holder/clip" for the shock mount. I am sending those
The ACM-3 will have a clip in the wooden box. I believe the new mics I am going to post soon are different from anything out there.

Not that anyone is freaking out or anythign, but I just want to throw out there that things like the shockmount are definitely part of the expected troubles with something like this, and is more than offset by the deal we got. Chance is working to make it right in time, and I have grown to trust him on this.

just wanted to get that out there in case some of us get bent out of shape that things don't always go perfectly.

Great job Chance, thanks for your work.

Daav

Yeah, I actually bought *extra* shockmounts (one of the reasons I got in on this was the great price for shockmounts), so it's a disappointment. But I can't say I'm surprised. The whole thing has been an experiment for all of us (kind of fun, actually), and I'm sure Chance will resolve it. Next time (and the time after that...), it'll be even smoother. But we can all say we were here first :)

Aj

I don't really care if the shock mounts aren't included. I just don't want to have to pay for something I won't get. I did pay extra for the shockmounts, so hopefully the supplier (or Chance) can work out a way to refund that money.

dude i hope my order still exists! i cant wait to get my paypal request and hand you the rest of my money, haha. so close!!
