Does a simple single drum trigger module exist?

Hi all, I've recently been turned towards kick drum triggers after playing a headliner's kit who used one at a gig. Really helped the sound for the type of music I was playing. Anyway, it got me to thinking-- Does there exist a method of triggering a kick drum without going out and buying a...

Sepultura Cover - Comments & vocal required :)

Hi there, Here is a cover of a song called 'Propaganda' by Sepultura. I'd like any comments, criticism and whatnot :) Also, is there anyone willing to do the vocal? I would be most grateful :) http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/21679/propaganda_mix_220508.mp3 Thanks!

String as dead as a dodo :/

Hi all, I've just restrung my Les Paul with Ernie Ball 12 - 56 since I'm trying to downtune it a bit. Problem is that the newly strung 'G' string sounds awful. It's ok when played open but when you fret it it has no sustain and is very 'dull' sounding. It seems to bend over the nut and bridge...

    At The Gates cover song

Hi all, I've done a cover of a song called 'Blinded By Fear' by original Swedish metallers 'At The Gates'. I'm basically fishing for someone who can do that style of vocal to add some vocals :) The MP3 is here. I'm a real low down dirty amateur so don't be horrified :)

    Building a small 'isolation room'

Hi all, I'm sure this information resides somewhere but I'm damned if I can find it. I'd like to build a small room in my garage to set up a drum kit so I can play it without waking the neighbours. It's not for recording so acoustics and whatnot are not of any concern. It needs to be big...

    Key ambiguity, I guess... :)

I've notice this happening with pro mixes too-- Whenever I hear a song intro on the car stereo or cheap speakers (when they are quiet), it's often really difficult to gauge the 'key' that the song is in and when the vocals or lead guitar come in (and it's a lot louder) you suddenly realise it...

    More 'computer game' arrangements ;)

Here's something else I'm working on at the minute. Please take a listen and possibly critique, although I'm aware the guitar tone and some of my playing is a little dodgy. The waves of nostalgia come for free, BTW :) http://www.philunderhill.co.uk/?q=node/10

    Sad But True

Hi all, A quick cover of Sad But True (sans Vocal) that I put together to try and get my performance and mixing skills up to a reasonable standard :) http://www.philunderhill.co.uk/?q=node/3 Please let me know what you think :)

Hopes Crumble To Dust, critique appreciated!

Hi all, This is only my second mix and is a recording of a band that I'm in. I play drums, we have two guitarists, a bassist and a vocalist. Please give critique and suggestions on the performance and mix :) There are a few un-rectifiable recording and performance issues which I'm sure will be...

    Hell March : Second Attempt!

Hi all. I posted recently a recording of the classic C & C : Red Alert song that I did. I've received quite a bit of feedback and have redone the entire thing from scratch using the tips that I've been given. The drums were originally punched in on the first recording but I've now layed down a...

    Technical MIDI problem

Hi all. I bought myself a cheap USB MIDI device the other day. It's just USB box with two cables (MIDI IN/OUT). All seemed to be going well and I was recording some beats using Battery, however I've turned everything on today and MIDI from pads -> PC doesn't seem to be working. I can output...

    Sequencing MIDI with DD-55

Hi all. I have a Yamaha DD-55 drum machine here, and I'd like to create some beats using MIDI. I don't have any MIDI hardware, obviously except for MIDI in/out ports on the PC and would like to record some MIDI, and then assign some samples. Are there any fairly easy to use tools to...

Cover of 'Hell March' from C & C : Red Alert

Hi all :) I'm very new to home recording, so I expect that the criticism might be insurmountable but I just thought I'd post a cover of the song 'Hell March' that I did. It's by Frank Klepacki originally, from the soundtrack of Red Alert. Apologies that the drums are electronic, but I...
