Hey,
I'm experimenting with re-amping and such and find that if I run a cable out from my digi001 and into my guitar amp that I get a lot of hum/noise.
I take it this is because the output is a -10 low impedance and the guitar amp input is a high impedance, right?
How do I correct this?
Is...
Hey guys,
I've taken a bit of a liking to remixing other peoples songs. It's fun changing a song around into a new style as well as improving my general mixing.
I have a hard time finding source audio files though. ie. Free songs to remix. Does anybody know where to find some? I'm not fussed...
Hey guys,
Just give you a rundown of my gear:
-Digi001
-Monitoring on a Hifi
-Yamaha MG10/2 Preamps (patched the inserts)
-Naint(?) MSH1O overheads.
-Rode NTK
-Miced the bass cab and went DI. $200 bass and $100 bass amp. Results in a slightly nicer sound than just going straight DI though. I...
Hey guys,
I've been around this place for a while but I've never actually submitted anything. This one is a track I wrote a while back but I finally got around to recording it. I'm not much of a song-writer but it's my mixing I'm interested in!
Just give you a rundown of my gear:
-Digi001...
Hey guys,
I recently recorded a 2 hour long multi-track session (5 separate tracks) of our band jamming. Now I want to cut this big clip into several smaller clips which I want to put in new projects.
I thought it would be as simple as selecting the regions I want to copy and pasting them into...
Hey guys,
I've been using Cubase SX 3 (I think theres a new version out?) for a while now and I'm comfortable using it.
Something that has always irked me however is I can't for the life of me figure out how to loop a part when playing it. I've read the manual but I just can't work it out...
Hey guys,
I'm looking for a pair of condensors that would find themselves equally at home on a kit as well as acoustic guitar.
Something available in Australia would be lovely too, so I'm restricted to shures/rode etc etc.
I had a search around but the search tool doesn't seem to like...
Hey guys,
I'm now the proud owner of a Yamaha MTX4 4 Track Cassette Recorder, and hand me down from a cousin who moved away.
Now I'm pretty damned familiar with most aspects of PC based recording but have never used a 4 track before. I think it would be good experience to play around with it...
Hey,
I use a dinky little mixer as pre-amp basically. I plug my mic/source into the mixer and then run the -10 outs into my line in.
Now I try to keep my signals around 0 on my mixer (maximum +5, then clip) in order to stop clipping/distortion. I assume this is the right thing to do.
However...
Hey,
I have my electric guitar running into the line in on my mixer (acting as a preamp) (Yamaha MG10/2) then out of my rec.outs into my PC.
Now I am using an amp simulator on my pc to get some effects going.
My problem is however that to get a hot enough signal I have to turn the gain on the...
Hi,
I have a little home studio with a few condensers/dynamics etc etc running into a yamaha mg10/2 mixer which I use simply as a glorified preamp. I then run the -10 outs from the mixer into a live card (running kx for asio) with good results.
My only comlpaint with this system is that my PC...
Hi,
I have a rackmount DSP128 Effects unit hooked up through my mixers post-send and is returning through the left return.
I choose to send my SM58 (xlr) to the unit and the effects work properly.
However if I choose to run my guitar (straight to mixer) I don't get any effects even though...
What happens?
I am looking at buying the small Yamaha 10/2 and it has 4 mic pre-amps with switchable phantom.
I am looking at getting condensors but only have dynamics at the moment. The switchable power is for all channels - you cannot set it individually.
So yeah what would happen if I ran...
Hi,
I'm new here, its good to see a forum dedicated to home recording!
I am looking to buy a soundcard to record with. Now I am going to be using a mixer and then recording track by track into my pc and then multi-tracking on my pc. I am not interested in a direct multitracking on the PC.
Now...
