Hey Guitar Junkie-

I lost contact with Jamon when he moved and stopped working at Buddy Rogers. Rising Sun is just across the river from me in N-KY. If you have his info for the store, please PM me with it if you don't mind.

funny that i could not really give you much on him but... he is right down town Rising sun has a store front there with some guitars and stuff. i was in there for a photo shoot in town and stopped in to check it out. you should just be able to go in a week day and find him i guess. good luck! by the way i live in Aurora IN but work around Cincy and sometimes i do things in KY also :)

I absolutely love breedlove, c.fox, and bourgeois. Why get a taylor or a martin for the same price???!!! In my opinion there's no comparison.

yeah C. fox is nice stuff i played one once about a year ago and thought it was really sweet at like $1400 really wanted it bad but $$$$$$$ :(

ha ha ha Ive had a rough month.

no "D" in Jamons last name. D'OH! :D

Zelier guitars. ha ha. Check 'em out anyways, some of the best Ive played!

Larrivee's are the best value for high end guits IMO.

Except maybe for Webbers. When I bought my Webber OM I was really looking at C-Fox, Breedlove, Cruz, Legend, Lowden, etc and any other used/new guits Buffalo Bros had in the $1,600 range. The Webber just kept blowing all contenders back to their stands. A lot of high end guits fell by the wayside that day. I didn't want to buy the Webber, I wanted something more well known. It simply left me no choice.

I've been looking at and listening to some inexpensive acoustics. See'n as how I only own electric I have been wanting something different. I have no desire to dole out a serious amount of cash...that is reserved for a nice toob half stack. Anyway, I played some of those listed and the Seagull by Godin impressed me the most for sound. The neck was thin, flat backed, and wide which I thought was wierd for an acoustic. It worked, played nicely with good action. Under four hunnert dollers. Ibanez all finish no substance.

I voted for Taylor.

There are so many incredible instruments being built now that to cover the wild ones would take a list with a hundred names on it, half of which most of us wouldn't recognize. But my honors list would have to include Linda Manzer, Huss & Dalton, Breedlove, Santa Cruz, Larrivee, SCGC, Bourgeois, Froggy Bottom, True North. Get a load of this place:

WOW!!!!!!!!!!! The back on that was beautiful.

I haven't played that many different brands of guitars, but I have been pretty impressed with the Washburn's. I recently picked up a WD46S (was on special for $A399 ... normal RRP is $A699).

It's one of their rarewood editions. I picked it up, started playing it, and loved the action, loved the sound, loved the width of the neck (slightly wider than your standard dreadnought), just ... loved it. And at the price!! From my experience, anything below about $300 here is just a cheap plywood that doesn't really sound too good. You start getting into the reasonable guitars from about $600. And I picked up this thing for $400!!!!

Gee Neither Of The Acoustics In My House Made The Poll.my Son Plays A Yamaha And I Play A Takamine 12 String.the Yamaha Is Not Bad For The Price But My Takamine Is An Exceptional Guitar.i Really Do Envy You Guys That Have Had The Opportunities To Play Some Of The Higher Ends Though

I can't believe you left Guild off the list--the best acoustic 12-string guitars on the planet IMHO.

I've been looking to buy an acoustic guitar in the $500-$800 price range. Recently I stumbled upon the Taylor 110, and it simply blew me away. I compared it to some Martins, Gibsons, and even Taylors that were more expensive, and I prefered the sound of the 110. I've been looking around to play a Taylor 220, but I can't find one. Anyone know how the 110 and 220 compare?

I take it this poll is dealing with acoustic flat tops from larger manufacturers, so in that case, I voted for Gibson. I'm coming up on 50 years of owning guitars and there have been a lot of them....and it's still fun getting another one. Just a few weeks ago I got a Gibson J-45 Rosewood from GC..it was the last thing I intended to do, you know how it is when you go in there, but it stood out so much in tone and the price was great at $1295. For a Gibson it's set up fairly well, though it will eventually get to my set up guy. The shorter scale is bit different as I'm used to 25 1/2" but it's J-45 and I knew it going in.

In my opinion this is really the golden age of acoustic guitars...there is so much good stuff out there in every price range.

When I went shopping for my first high-end guitar in 2002, I tried most and thought I'd end-up with a Martin. But in the end it came down to a Larrivée LV-10 and Taylor 814c. Being Canadian, I thought hard about buying the Canadian-made Larrivée, but to me the Taylor was the clear winner. So I bought it and still absolutely love it. The funny thing was, when I bought it, I'd heard of all the other guitar brands I tried, but had never heard of Taylor (as a "closet musician" maybe I was out-of-touch!?). My purchase was not based on anything other than my unbaised immediate love of the tone, feel of the neck and look/appointments of the Taylor. It took awhile to find a string set that suited me best (eventually settled on Elixir Polyweb light/mediums to add a bit more bass), but like I said, I love my Taylor.

I play classical guitar. Don't have favorite brands but favorite builders.

Dake Traphagen
Greg Smallman
Thomas Humphrey

Martin HD-35

Gibson J160-E(recent Bozeman, Montana, "Master Built", solid top model)

I love both of these. Each has it's own rich, beautiful tone and feel and I can't say I favor one over the other.
