Oh I LOVE this one...

...just proves people's abilities to lose common sense in the face of hype.

These freakin' things sell for a good $650cdn (per pair!) - yikes........... can you imagine that conversation with your local studio retailer?

Buyer: Yeah... I'm interested in those NS-10s... how much are they?
Seller: Those are the famous monitors that EVERY studio in the world uses. These are the best you can get... they're $650 a pair.
Buyer: Are they really that good?
Seller: Like I said, every major studio in the world uses them....
Buyer: OK... I'll take 'em... any tips on how to place them or anything?
Seller: (takes money) - oh yeah - here's one from a few engineers I know personally... get yourself a packet of kleenex and tape a tissue over each the tweeters -- world class sound -- I don't know HOW MANY hits were recorded that way........
Buyer: (excited now) Hey... I heard of that -- the salesguy at The Brick (Canadian home furnishing store of dubious quality and service) told me the same thing when I was shopping for my home stereo last week - he said the speakers I bought there would sound way better if I covered the tweeters with tissue and face them to the wall instead of out into the room. I did it and they sound GREAT! Boy, I can't wait to get these babies home and start mixing on them.... ...oh - I almost forgot, are there special kleenex available or can I use any brand??

All I can say is -- BIG FREAKIN' YIKES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Come on now. You guys just ain't mixed until you do it thru a pair of Peavey SP-2s with a moving blanket thrown over the horns. It's JUST the SHIT. Even better than the Yamahas.
