Cobradenim, he was supporting everything you just said. What's with the harsh words? ...sarcasm... ...?...
cobradenim said:It's kind of like Gibson guitars. Gibson still makes decent guitars but, come on, $2000 for a Les Paul standard is obsurd. These guitars are mass produced anyway and probably only cost $300 to produce in the first place.

I'm not talking about the custom shop guitars, I'm talking about the standard les pauls. in 1992, a new Les Paul Standard in a sunburst was $1200.gusfinley said:Hmmm. Actually, just the wood alone for a Les Paul is gonna cost more than $300. Just the flamed maple cap for the body is going to be over $100. In an interview with one of the guys who runs the Gibson custom shop, he mentioned that he's spent up to $3000 on just a piece of wood for a guitar. That comes from the 24 page article about the historic reissues from tonequest newsletter - read that article and you will see why those historic reissues - especially the artist signature ones are going to cost what they are...........

Decent, but too many solid state components. Only popular because of Slash's use of them on AFD. JCM800 nukes 'em.
