You might already know this already: You could buy a UAD-1 Project Pak. That's the cheapest one. If you already own a bunch of the plugins, they will run on the "Project Pak" as well. The project pak runs around $350/new.

I don't see used cards too often, and if you do, it's usually a situation where the owner wants to get more than the price of a project pak because of the number of plugins that they have.

Put it this way, if you already have the "Studio Pak" and want to add another card, it would be foolish to buy another "Studio Pak". You could just buy the "Project Pak" instead. You would accomplish the same net result.

At least that's the way I see it.

That might not be the best deal now with the Flex Pak. 2x Flex gets you $1000 of plugs and 2 cards for $1400 vs. the Ultra with $1371 of plugs and one card for $1200. I think that makes the comparison $1771 for Flex and $1600 for Ultra. But included in those Ultra plugs is Dreamverb which is redundant with the Plate 140. If there is just one more Ultra plug you don't want, Flex is a better deal.

I got a free $200 voucher with my Project (B-stock, $50 off), and bought the LA2A and most of the Pultec. Then I got the Flex Pak and scored Precision EQ and Limiter, and Plate 140 and kicked in $50. Mysteriously, the Flexi came with a free 1176LN, for that card only. So all I really need now is that new Multiband, for a grand total of $1,205

Right on! I've been trying to keep an eye out for a used Project Pak as well. I never seem to find them though. I always see people selling the other Paks.

Although, looking at that Flex Pak, that might really be the way to go if you still need a couple optional plugs.
