Hello,
I'd like some opinions regarding these two mixes of a live jazz piano performance.
Which one do you like best in terms of balance and musicality?
Mix 1
Mix 2
Thanks in advance for your time and expertise.

For me, mix two is better because there is more up top in the right channel. However they’re both in my humble view a bit weird. It’s very much like the centre of the piano around middle C was moved an octave lower. The lower notes played by the right hand are buried in the bass. The style includes lots of sustain pedal holding while things happen in the lower range, so it’s dark and a bit murky. You cannot hear the dampers at all, or the room. It’s like you are listening inside the piano with the lid shut. I doubt that’s the mix, just the mic positioning. It’s almost like a good sample, but with the noises and percussive element turned off. It’s nice and detailed but for my taste, way too dark and lacks top end sparkle, emphasising those clashing left hand dischords.
