*yawn*

Is that like a glorified digital recorder of modern standards?

Nope... It's a dedicated device to run VST plugs...

Exactly Peritus. It's funny how people just knock stuff without even reading the description. Lol! Who is this guy? Where you been hidin at Peritus?

Wurd....

Hiding at work... lol.. how ya been?

i've used that before. Nothing really special. Can be useful, however IDK who would pay the $1800 pricetag that comes with it, so that they don't have to convieniently click the plug ins..

Yea that price is ridiculous. Is it any better than using a computer?

Other than being actual knobs? Not really. Some peoples say it may "hurt" the plug-ins original sound.

Dang. Thats alot of wackness for almost two stacks. You could get a motif xs or either a mpc for that kinda dough. Or, either a really good mic or preamp!!!! LOL!

...Who is this guy?...

Oh, sorry for intruding into your private conversation... :o
And I don't think you are genuinely interested in me... :D

Anyways,

Uhm, your right. I think I missed the part where you don't track to the unit. It seems that you still need a digital recorder/computer to track.

But, still, according to this description:

"The intuitive, mixer-like architecture allows you to combine up to 16 different audio sources from either internal VSTi instruments or external analog/digital inputs. Each can be processed through an inline effects matrix, a dedicated mixer channel, 2 dedicated effects buses, and a VST effects matrix on the master output. In all there are as many as 16 simultaneous VSTi instruments and 57 VST effects in addition to processing sources through its external inputs."

other than you can't track on it, it seems that you could pretty much do the same on the computer... Unless I'm missing something major here - like maybe the possibility to create a custom synthesizer (sound module) with nearly unlimited amount of sounds/samples and send external sound through the same box...

I haven't tried the VST part of it, but my be promising. However it only has 2 busses, and 2 outputs (TRS).... Me personally, I would go for a Neko/Meko for that price, and use their Mimik software to do the same thing, but better... use VST's, but also able to take sounds off of any board or module..

At first i thought it may be a good product for portable convenience(making music in a hotel or somethin:D), but i think you can get a mac laptop and a decent interface for $1800 right? I'm not sure how much macs cost.

Macbooks Start Out At $999 I Believe Ones With Intel In Them...

Still

That, And Pay For A Good Interface.
