Between being and nothing
One of my online buddies, Tim Daniel, asked me to sing and write lyrics for, some music he and a buddy of his composed.

He finally finished it and put it on his site, and it's been doing rather well. I gotta admit, my vocals are off in a few places (I dunno what is it with me and internet collabs), but overall I think it's a pretty good effort.

Feed back would be appreciated:

Thanks, Buds! :)

Your vocals sound just like....
I can't remeber her name, but she was good. The room even sounds like her room(maybe a little bit smaller).

THe problem is that the other instruments are in another room, a more contemporary room, and that kinda destorys the plane of reality.

But you have a cool voice.

keep it up.

Thanks for the feedback.

Tim and his bud actually recorded the music a LONG time ago. That was about as good a mix as he could get. I have that problem when I try to mix my stuff using MIDI!

Shaky,

Great tune. The recording sounded great to me, even the drums and I thought the dry vocals were appropriate for this song and the singing itself was fine. THe instrumentation got really interesting and good as the song progressed.

Nice stuff.

The vocal is way too upfront for my taste. I would prefer to hear it blended in more with the instrumentation.

I didn't notice anything wrong with the vocal track itself though. Sounds fine to me.

Hi Ray J!

Thanks for the listen! How's it going!

Hi MrLip,

Yeah, I kinda agree on the vocal, unfortunately, I don't think Tim had the individual tracks on hand. He had to mix down to the mixed backing track itself.

Thanks for the comments on the vocals everyone. I've been really insecure about my voice lately.

Shaky-
I especially liked the little thing at 2:24 you did. Cool:)

That track music sounded like a video game track for some reason....hmmm... maybe I just play too many video games.

Not too bad. You've got a very folky voice, and I can respect *anyone* who can actually sing. The music was very goofy, but sort of clever and interesting... like murder mystery meets the legend of zelda.

I liked the vocal sound overall but I think it could use some air...it was very closed in feeling. (listening on small phones here)

The stuff you do at 2:24 is **GREAT**, maybe you should have used that more throughout the song!

Thanks, guys!!!

Well, the instrumentation in the background is all real. :)

really? I would bet the bass is fake ... and a little too loud for my tastes.
I think a cut in the vocals around 250-300hz and a boost around 2-3khz would help them cut through a little better. Also, I think the verb on them is too long and too quiet. I'd like to hear either a small room or maybe even a slapback/reverse verb. Not -too- loud with it ... but something shorter will also help the vox not seem so muddy and closed in. I wonder how you tracked your vocals because it almost seems like you were a little to close to the mic. What mic was it and how did you have it positioned?
I agree w the others, what you did at 2:24 is absolutely great and should at *least* be copied into the intro of the tune!
Neat song ... :)

Shaky,

I always thought you were a bloke for some reason, anyways now I know different. I found the music a little cheesy, but I think your voice would be great with some acoustic guitar or clean guitar. Very folky voice, very British Folk sounding, like Steeleye Span or something. You have excellent annunciation, and I found your voice clear and refreshing like a minty mouthwash.

I’m impressed. Vocals are too close and need a tad of effecting. Some more of the backing vocals would be nice also. I always thought you were into rap because of your name. Silly me.

WOW!! And after the way I moderated the 'Cave...

Thanks guys!!

Yeah, I was REALLY close to the mic. I wanted that condensor to REALLY feel me.

Tim can't mix it down any further. I was hoping for some more reverb, myself. But oh well.

I should have some more experimental stuff up soon (well, as experimental as an old fashioned pop girl like myself can get. ;) )
