Will the SP VTB-1 give me some grit for a live bass rig?

Does anyone know if there's any significant difference in the sound of the rack unit vs. the stompbox, has anybody tried both?

I own the SansAmp GT2 (for guitar), Bass Driver DI, and I got the PSA about 2 weeks ago... the PSA has the most sound control... IMO, the Bass Driver DI is more like a distrotion box than an amp molder... if you're going to get a SanaAmp... I recommend the PSA. By the way... the sound you're looking for comes more from the Rick 4003/Ampeg SVT combo than from the SansAmp. ;)

It figures. How do you like the SVT setting on the PSA?

I keep thinking I should have the regular SansAmp Bass Driver just because everybody seems to use it, sort of an 'industry standard' kind of thing.

i'm a little late to this thread......i use my VTB-1 for both guitar and bass DI. it does an 'ok' job at both. if i had a sansamp, i wouldn't use it. but it DOES get a nice trebly (midrangey) growl to it that really helps the bass punch through the mix. i usually stick the toob around 10:00 and it's plenty.

of course, part of that is my bass--a late 80's yamaha that has plenty of midrange but no real bottom end to speak of. it really sounds a lot more like a ric4001 than a fender bass. this thing couldn't rumble if it were provoked......but it certainly has plenty of punch.

anyway, the mating of that bass and he VTB-1 works plenty well in my situation. lots of folks poo-poo it as a bass DI, but i found it does fine with my bass. with a couple fender basses that i've used, though, i'd certainly prefer something else.

cheers,
wade

IMO, all the amp modeling boxes I've herad (including the PSA) don't sound as good as the real amps... get the real thing.

I get a great overdriven sound using a Boss ODB-1, SansAmp Bass Driver, and my Fender AB165 Bassman, run through an SVT 810 cab.
