Well actualy i do have a good experience with Butringer, it was when i didnt buy it. :D

Funny the guy in samass tried to get me to buy the crapy Samson speakers just because he would get more money, since samass owns the compamy. But wait...that has nothing to do with bungringer...i'm getting old.

For what it is, there's nothing inherently wrong with Berry gear, particularly for those folks that have it and use it. There's quite a bit of funcionality in many of those pieces. Many purchase Berry gear due to budget reasons, or perhaps because they are new to recording (or live gigging) and feel those products are just fine for them.

Other folks spend more money and (duh) get higher quality gear. That's great for them.

I'm sure many future great REs will look back and remember their earlier uses of Berry gear, and what they learned by using it.

I needed a little mixer and got a cheap Eurocrack whatever...it screeeeched thought the headphones no matter what, faders up, faders down, didn't matter. Took it back to GC and the salesman said "you don't want Berry anyway..." replaced it with a slighly more expensive Mackie...no complaints.

At Guitar Centers' expense or yours?

Thought so.

Behringer has worked flawlessly for me with all the gear I've purchased from them including:

HA4700 *headphone amp
ADA8000 *8 channel ADAT

EP2500 - 2 of them...Power amps for a PA
CX3400 - Crossover
MD(forget model number)- Compressor for PA
PMX2000 - Powered mixer.

All works great.

As long as you don't have any problems they're fine...

...An interesting comment, which, if you think about it, APPLIES TO EVERYTHING!! :D :D :D

I bought my V Amp and MDX2600 from two different vendors, one in Fargo and one in Colorado Springs, and amazingly they both told me exactly the same thing about Berhinger gear; "If it doesn't break down in the first month, it never will. Berhinger has no gray area in quality..." Neither would give me odds...But I must have beat 'em anyway.

Not really! If my Studio Projects, Stagg, Burns, Carlsbro, Laney, Korg/Vox or Roland/Boss things were to break, I'll still be ok because their companies give good service and look after their customers (I deal with all of these companies except Studio Projects on a weekly basis). If my Behringer stuff breaks, my experience tells me I will not be so likely to be taken care of ... so as long as it works, I'm ok.

Does that make a bit more sense? :)

Thought so???? Oh, so I should have just exchanged it for another Berry?? Got my money back and went with no board at all??? No thanks... The Berry had built in effects that I really didn't need, but it was cheap and at the time I only needed a few channels. I got a Mackie with more channels,14 to be exact.Besides,my post said SLIGHTLY more expensive. They take care of me at GC and know me by name.In fact, I may have put a few of their kids in college this year alone...

I'm refuse to utter another word in re to B- - - - - - R!

Truths worked out okay for now.

Patchbay isn't giving me problems.

The headphone amp was ridiculously loud and went back to the store.

I only bought one piece of Berry gear...Composer Pro 2600...or something like that...

Looks nice with all the pretty lights :D

But if I use any makeup gain...major noise. To the point of being un-useable.

So, now it's just another pretty face. (i dig on the lights)

Yeppers, same one I got...

Don't it though?! Took a week for the new to wear off...

Ah, yeah, I went through that too...Seems as there are just too many amps in the signal chain for the poor lil' 2600. I rectified the situation by pulling gain down on the 2600 and amplifying the signal via channel trim on my board...Worked out nice. Also remember the input level switch on the back of the unit...

Oh yeah, they dance!

got my fingers crossed

5 pieces of Behringer gear...all works fine.

UB 802 ($49.00 does what I bought it to do)

Autocom MDX1200 (don't remember what I gave for it but it works fine)

GX210 Combo amp (got it for some ridiculous price like $89.00 from Musicians Friend last year.)

Virtualizer Pro (hardly ever use it anymore but it still works, gave $79.00 )

(Cheap) HMP 1000 headphones ($10.00, not great but ok for tracking)

No problems with any of it.

I only have one piece of behringer gear, a UB1204. It makes pops and clicks at the output stage. The headphone moniter is the only part of the output stage that doesn't produce clicks and pops. I thought my computer what the cause of the problem so I bought better soundcards, but the problems continued. I finally decided to use the mixer to record to analog tape. The pops and crackles are also printed to tape so I know that it is the mixer that is at fault. I use it as a headphone amp now.

It appears that more people DON'T have problems with their Behringer gear than do.

Since they outsell everything out there, of course we are going to hear some complaints, and complainers tends to sound off, where as those that are happy with their purchase don't really start threads titled:

"The new Behringer gear I just bought works fine and was what I thought it would be".

I just crack up how Mr.NoIQ bashes Behringer gear, yet a CD that I mixed many years ago, where we used MANY MANY MANY channels of Behringer compressor and gates, he gave a big ol' thumbs up on how it sounded.

Oh well. I will take the neg rep complete with harsh comments because I defend that Behringer isn't anywhere as "horrible" as the gear snobs make it out to be.

I at least have a LOT of excellent sounding productions, that many good engineers have complimented me on, that used a lot of cheap gear.

.

That's because most people who sing the praises of Behringer gear have NEVER tried anything else therefore have no way to perform comparisons with other equally priced gear.

MX802A - Introduces a lot of noise into the signal. Preamps are dull and hissy. Other than that, it still works after ~5 years. It spends most of its time in the closet.

DI-100/GI-100 - Usable active DI boxes, but nothing special. Don't really have a full, rich bass sound that you'd want from a DI. but hey, they're $35. The cabinet simulator (GI-100) is useful, albeit a bit noisy. Spend most of their time in the closet.

ECM8000(x2) - I like how they sound on nylon string guitar, but the self-noise is noticeable on such a quiet source. Been meaning to throw them up as overheads, but haven't yet. Spend a fair amount of time in the closet.

All in all, my behri gear is functional and is probably worth about what I paid for it. In general, I think there are probably better sounding (& possibly more reliable) options for not a whole lot more money. I do get a fair amount of use out of the Test Tone CD that came with my mixer.
