I like Rammstien ;) more for the pyro than anything else ... they could never do that here in the US.

Yeah I thought it a little weird for them to take that name ... guess they really wanted to roll their Rs for their band name.

Is that what passes for "hardcore" these days?

There are so many sub genres for metal that it one can get lost really quickly. I guess the correct term would be metalcore but whatever...

No the correct term would be "horseshit". A grown man screaming at the top of his lungs like a 2 year old kid having a tantrum is not music. They used to lock up people like that in padded cells and feed them antipsychotic drugs.

At the risk of sounding like one of the geezers in this thread, that shit in the original clip is cheese. It's contrived, artificial, and doesn't even hint at real, true, anger or aggression. Double kicks and screaming doesn't equal hardcore or even metal. That shit was like Disney metal. I dunno, maybe it's just cuz I'm old enough to remember real hardcore music that I don't buy this weak cliche shit that passes as "metalcore" these days.

I guess that has been the best description on one's opinion on why they don't like it. And I can agree there is no real true anger or aggression and a bit cheesy. But this thread was made in the mixing forum. It could of been made in the cave and been tour up all to pieces............

Wars in Cyberspace ? P'faffle !!

You can't fight over Internet

Oooh, I'm not so sure about that. Go back a year and check threads. I got a smack in the gonads very early on ! There are a number of battle scarred veterans from these pages. Some never made it back.....:D
Forgot to mention this thread has 0% Percent of "Mixing Techniques" in it.
I come to the section to LEARN!! lol
Actually, listening to that video teaches alot about mixing, whether one likes the song and mix or not. That many like neither is actually the bed on which many of the comments have lain.
Ok, I over exaggerated because of the voices in my head:cool:
I tend to hear dictionary definitions, babies crying and electric mandolin....
Geezers are people who managed to survive past adolescence by.......
It's funny, in England, a geezer is just a bloke, whether boring, exciting, mature, smart or a master of dumkopfery.

To be fair, most of the active members in here don't make mixes like that and/or can't make mixes like that. This is but a modest hobbyist community with a few internet know-it-all superheros that claim to be pros, and fewer actual pros. In my few years here, I've heard quite a few home-recorded attempts at that style of music and mix, and it rarely works out well. If it doesn't really sound good when true pros with big budgets do it, it's really not gonna sound good when some shmoe with his USB interface and POD does it. That's just the way it is.

As for the music, five seconds of a DRI song packs more "hardcore" than that bands whole tour.

Why is everyone claiming it to be such a bad mix?

Because it is pretty bad. It exhibits everything that's bad about current music production and then seems to multiply that by ten. That youtube clip was bad. Their "real" mix from the actual CD might be better. I don't know.

I don't have Internet on studio computer so I'm listening to it thru regular speakers on my other computer.

I personally just think the music is not my or most peoples style. They have a fanbase. They make music for their fanbase. For every person that left a comment on their video saying "this band is amazing" and so forth they get to enjoy this song and video.

More power to the band! My congrats on their success.

Music is powerful and so are people's opinions

It might be jealousy for some people. For me, the music certainly sucks, but I can seperate that from the mix. Having fans is nice and all, but that doesn't really mean anything as far as production goes and what we talk about in here. The average music listener is dumb as hell. They don't know anything about sample replacement and auto-tune. They'll like whatever is handed to them in the genre of their choice. Hannah Montana has lots of fans too. Woopdy shit. I'm sure quite a few of us like music done by bands that don't have big budgets or high production values, so it's not entirely audiphile snobbery, although I'm sure some of it is. A lot of the geezers in here long for the days of vinyl and capturing the "magic" of a live performance. So their opinion of stuff like this is naturally gonna be pretty negative.

This is true. But I'm not the type to go out my way and find someone I don't like, copy their video link, and post it on a forum to bash them.

I just ignore what I don't like and don't give them free promotion. Good or bad, that band just got more free promotion because of this thread lol

I agree with what you're saying, but come on, be real, how much promotion did they really get? I doubt anyone that viewed this thread went out and bought their album. :laughings:
