ALOT of the Guitar Centers had it for $119.....some had to haggle , some didnt......Im pretty sure they (GC) are discontinuing them, thus the price reductions.......

I got one at GC for $119 last month with no haggling. I'd check out their Labor Day sale.

DMP3

I just called GC in Dallas...Texas is sold out, they are looking across the US.

He said cost is $119, so he'd have to tack on shipping etc..IF he could find one. $150 was the est. quote.

He said their cycling the units out of inventory.

This is a little off topic but no one knows where I live so...

Would the DMP3 make a noticable IMPROVMENT on vocals miced with my Rode NT1000? (I am recording a female singer)

Right now I am using the preamps in my Digi002 rack, I hear the digi pre's are good but I have nothing to compare them too.

Will the DMP3 sound better or just different?

The dmp3 is being revamped. It now has usb spdif connections. It no longer has a power supply, so now its useless for those of us who dont have a computer bassed studio.

No PS? Thats stupid.

I am looking hard for one for $119, if anyone can help me out please let me know.

Also looking for an ART D I/O for an extra 2 converters for scratch tracks and stuff.

Any more info on that? some web link? Can't find anything on it on their site and I'm curious.

I happen to know the GC in Natick, Massachusetts has one in stock (in the box, on the wall). I got mine there for $119 and I had to grind the manager's balls for half an hour to do it. $150 is no problem. For $119, you have to have a mean streak in you.-Richie

I've never had much luck with that - what grade carborundum did you use? Some people seem to have more luck by polishing. I can't seem to get a favorable response either way at the Phoenix GC.

Actually, my version was- GC has already sold the thing for $119, and I can prove it. Would you like me to get a photocopy of the recept? You say you'll match anybody's prices, but that doesn't apply to your own, right? Who is the regional GC rep, and what's his number? I'd love to ask him about it. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to buy a VTB-1 and send an email to the regional rep, etc. etc. No fucking mercy. They finally sold it to me with the comment "special customer, Boston quote" on the receipt. They blamed it on the Boston GC, but they did it.-Richie

Thanks Richie - I'll see if they have any left to haggle over.

If GC is cycling them out, how come Musicians Friend or 8th Street still have them for full price. You would think at least MF would discount them or something. I don't want to have to drive 100 miles to the closest GC.

As I posted earlier, I'd do it, but I think mine was labeled "special customer" just to prevent me from doing that, to give them an out. Hopefully someone with a clean receipt will help you out.-Richie

If you would post it, I can probably "photoshop" the special customer part out and repost it.

I paid $119 for mine out the door, but it was well over a month ago. They had three at the time. Wish I had bought at least one more. I really like this pre. I asked at the Labor Day sale and they told me they won't be getting any more.
I always thought that guarenteed lowest pricing was for an"Advertized price" not a price that someone haggled for. Although, when I bought mine. $119 was their advertized price. I haggled for the "no tax" thing.

Blessings, Terry
