Newbie here, plunging into home recording and have two options at my disposal. Should I concentrate my time on learning with the Delta 1010LT or go back in time a little and try messing with 2 Yamaha DSP Factory cards linked together?
If i go the Yamaha route, I have to go back in time a tad and run off XP with an older version of something that kinda supports it -- or use something like LUI, which controls the effects and on the cards.
If I go the Delta route, I'd want to use a Linux distro like 64 studio or Dynebolic and stick with RoseGarden or Ardour.
I'm using a few older P3's I have resurrected. I also have some old synths and a midiman midisport 8x8.
Any suggestions? I know the Yamaha stuff has a large learning curve, but I've heard it was pretty impressive for it's time. The delta stuff is newer, but would the Yamaha D/A converters be better? The hardware is not rated as high on paper as the Delta 1010....but I wouldn't need to use a lotta VSTs with the built in REV300's....
(Or should I combine them somehow, I have 3 PCs...I could route some of the outputs from the Deltas through the Yamaha cards for the effects and back again, but thats kinda backwards for an "in the box" approach)
Any ideas are welcome, again, I'm green on this stuff...
