Pro Tools Free baby. Had a little version of cubase, didn't like it, card that came with it broke, back to PT Free.

Im using Digital perormer at the moment!
Because it has a very good and usable interface! :)

SAWPro...

SAW and FruityLoops 3.0... that's all I need. Too bad SAW is out of business. They really did make the best stuff. The common thread of this er... thread is everyone complaining about how cubase/cakewalk/protools/logic/etc... crashes all the time. Well SAW doesn't really crash. You gotta be like checking yer e-mail, typing yer resume, recording 8 tracks, day-trading, and launching a space shuttle before SAW starts to get jerky. Forget the interface-- people will always have subjective opinions of what they like. The nuts and bolts of the program-- its code -- is the best around. Those folks at IQsoft could have ruled the market if they had made a home version of SAW. But they worked too hard on it and made it too good. SAW is like the Tucker automobile of DAW's... furthermore I reject the idea that midi and tracking MUST be in the same program. I would rather have two programs that do what they're supposed to do instead of one that sucks. Maybe in the future, when the bar is raised a bit, someone will figure out a system that has it all and does it well.

ps- if one of the programs that I have maligned works well for you, good. I envy you... despite having a modern, well configured system, I have not had your luck.

software

i use cakewalk pro audio 9 for tracking
soundforge for editing
i love both of them

[the rest deleted to save young_techy from prosecution...and don't ever do that again!]

cakewalk pro audio 9 for audio recording, mixing AND editing.
i'm getting a digi 001 for my studio, since it's de rigueur if you want to stay in business here.

what the hell is going on here?! now i'm curious!;)

OK...but....

Screw protools... ;)

Logic Platinum baybeeeeee..... :)

(note to PT users...no hard feelings eh??;))

yeah, i know. i'd rather stick to cakewalk, but there's nothing i can do about it.

adriano

Why??

Do you need PT compatability with studios??

Just curious...

Booooooooooooooooo!!!!

It's a PT conspiracy!!

sorry man...

nothing wrong with PT tho...I just don't like how they FORCE you to buy all thier stuff. One BIG advantage...If you got some bucks check out this plugin from Sony...I'd LOVE to have it but have to wait for a VST or Dx version...

KILLER EQ!!!

yeah, zip, i'm with you.
i don't hate protools, i actually kinda like it, but i hate being forced to use it.

Yeah - that's the only reason I steered clear of it.

Check out that Sony EQ...they have a free demo...

One mode mimics a Neve profile!

sure. i'll check it out.
i have like $2k to spend right now on a few upgrades to my studio, and i'm looking into the possibilities and necessities (mic pre, mics, headphone amp etc.).

adriano

Cool....

...and when you get a chance send me an eMail with your thoughts...

I'll be looking into it when they come out with a VST version...

Thanks man...
