Interesting....the best software enjoys the smallest market share. Samplitude has their work cut out for them.

I love the ease of use with Pro Audio 9, but I have migrated to Sonar XL 2.0.

Did you know that there is another computer platform besides Windows?

No, really? It must not be very good then if everyone uses Windows.

:D

yeah! what i've heard is Windows is PERFECT! nobody ever has the slightest problem with either software or OS! :D

actually, my only reason for posting my comment was that I use Digital Performer. It wasn't a choice on the list. Anyway, I have no interest in reviving the Mac/PC wars, cause I could care less about that. Just wish there was a more comprehensive list to choose from as far as the platforms mentioned.

Actually, Pro Tools, Nuendo and Logic all run on Macs! (just to be fair) :D

And no hardware compatability issues either!

LOL!:D

I use Sonar cause I'm used to cakewalk since 8.
It is very stable under Windows 2000.
I love to work with the DXIs. On my audiophile I've got a latency of 3ms.
Soundforge for editing.

Hey, TheBlackOrpheus

SAW still lives!! In the form of SAW Studio. http://www.sawstudio.com.

>>had most features accept WDM driver support, therefore 16-bit resolution is as high as SAW will go under Windows XP. <<

Not true! There is a proven workaround for this that others are having great success with! I use the RME Hammerfall card which does not use the WDM drivers. Most stable sound card I've used for a long time.

There is also a fabulous users newsgroup. If you're interested, e-mail me for the server settings.

I use acid, soundforge, fruity loops, logic audio, and heaps of plugins. Im moving away from acid and i haven't used it in months, and i use fruity loops sparingly. im trying to do everything with logic, but i have been tracking into soundforge, simply becuase i can't seem to get it working in logic audio with my SB live(i need a new card).

I'm using Samplitude Producer, which does everything but play my instruments for me. I have Wavelab, but hardly ever find a use for it anymore. For practicaly any task you can think of, Samplitude has multiple ways to do it. Code efficiancy wise, Samp was written in low level language that executes faster, and more accurately than crap written in C++. I'm running a P-III 700, and getting over 40 tracks of 24/44.1 with EQ and compression on all tracks, plus a handfull of verbs and other plugs. FFT, Room simulator, Multiband dynamics, multiband stereo expander, the list goes on........all included. Best kept secret in audio...nothing touches it. Final word, it sounds better, and has for years.
LOGIC RULES?
SAMPLITUDE ROCKS!!

SCREW THE RULES, ROCK ON!
RD

I just got VST/32 a little bit ago for a good deal on clearance.

I was already used to Cubasis because it came with my card. 5.1/32 has a very comfortably similar layout.

I use Acid Pro 3.0 for drums, samples, and arranging, and Sund Forge XP4.5 for 2 track edits.

FWIW,

I've used many variations of both Cakewalk and Cubase. In fact, I've used Cakewalk more than Cubase. However, I have finally abandoned Cakewalk for Cubase based on ease of use, quality, and performance. I use VST 5/32 on my ME system and SX on my XP system.

I currently use PGMUSIC powertracks. Why?

This company not only listens to suggestions from their consumers, but actually implement them pretty quickly.

Ask and you shall receive.

Plus it only costs like $30.

Will I eventually get something else?

Probably, but for now, I'm happy with PGMUSIC.

:)

34.99 at radioshack for a dual midi joystick connector and get Power tracks free. Its good but I already had PA9. I use Sonar 2 XL now.

may as well add my name to the list of Logic users...still no Logic forum here...sad indeed, last time i posted here i think it read along the lines of "i'll be back when there's a Logic section"...wont hold my breath...cya.

I have used Cakewalk Home Studio 2002. It's like a diet Sonar, but it is exactly what I have needed, and isn't that what it's all about?

Although I am looking at getting Sonar down the road.

PowerTracks doesnt do 24bit/96khz

Ive played with it a bit and its ok but quite a bit behind N-Track's quality and Flavio listens to his customers too.....

I use PG Music's Power Tracks Pro Audio 8 on two puters at present. One is a Home Built Puter I built about 2 1/2 years ago that is running an AMD K6 2 400, as of tonight, 512 Megs of PC 133 SD RAM, and has Win 98SE on it. It gives between 20 and 30 Tracks of audio depending on plugins.

The other Puter is an old Pentium 133 that I built about 3 1/2 years ago. It only has 32 Megs of EDO 72 Pin RAM and has Win 95B OS. It will give between 12 and 16 Tracks of audio depending on plugins. This machine has a nice old 16 Bit Vortex Sound Card.

I bought the PowerTracks Pro Audio 8 in July for 29 bux before it went up to 49 bux, and it has never given me any issues as far as the Program goes. It's very stable even on the Lil 133 machine.

I record Audio only and will never use many of the features on PT 8 but it makes good recordings and as I said, it's very stable.

PowerTracks 8 IS a 32 bit porgram and IS capable of 24 bit/96hz.

I'm in the process of building a 1.3 Gig T-bird puter for recording in a Systemax Mini ATX case w/ the Power Supply upgraded to a 300 Watt unit. It will, in a few months, have an STaudio C-Port as the Recording Interface. I will be using PT 8 and n-Track on this machine.

I just started recording about 6 months ago on a Tascam 414 MKII Multitrack Cassette PortaStudio.
