I remember hearing that some mics are designed for instrument recording and others for voice. I've been using a rode nt1-a mic for recording my acoustic guitar but I'm not overly happy with the results. It sounds very "basey" and not clear and crisp. I place it just next to the sound board and play. I've experimented with using a plectrum and it sounds clearer, although I prefer to pluck and strum with my fingers. Do you think a different mic would help?
Also, I record through protools 6.4 le but don't have a mixer. Forgive me for my ignorance but would a mixer enable me to enhance the treble and quieten the base? Your feedback would be appreciated.
