yeah i usually do but i didnt on the power stroke III cause i didnt have one

im pretty sure thats what did it

Although i havent miced drums in a while, there was a time when i liturally spend hours everyday trying to get a good drum sound and the main drum i was havin trouble with was the kick. I have 2 mics, the Shure beta 52 and the D112. I took the front drum head off of the kick and put a Evans kick head on the back with the dampener ring and through a little pillow in there up agenst the back head. then i placed the d112 in front of the kick drum, on the out side, directly in center. i had the mic on a low profile stand. then i ran it though a compressor to give it some punch and snap (just mess around with the compressor settings till you find a sound u like.) and sometimes i'd add a lil eq in the low-range freqs. then add reverb to suit your taste :D lol
