Curious as to what you guys are using. I'm about to start gigging again, and I've spent so much time and $$$ on recording equipment, that I haven't even thought about the live rig yet. What's in your rack? (besides the power conditioner :D ) Whaddya like? What do you think is pure shit? Got anything whose sole purpose is to impress people with lots of blinky lights?

All I got is a PODXT live stright into the mainboard. I run a second line to a powered monitor to simulate a cab so I won't freak out without a speaker blaring in my ear.

I have a Switchcraft cable going straight from my Les Paul right into a Fender 212 DeVille combo fitted with JJ tubes.

I have a fender strat going straight into a 2/12 Deville combo fitted with groove tubes

Fender Strat thru a dunlop crybaby into a Fender Twin, line out of that (2nd guitar input) into a Pod into 70 watt Jansen amp. Effects are put on the loop on the Twin.

Strat/Tele/Shecter into a Cry Baby to a Rivera. When I'm feeling crazy, I actually use the Cry Baby.

I get the best of both worlds. A Vox Tonelab into a Fender Twin Reverb that's been modified with a preamp in and out loop. Guitars I use:
Ric 370/12
62 Strat
63 Tennessean

LP Standard > wireless system > MXR SuperComp > Snarling Dog SuperBawl Whine-O > Ernie Ball volume > input of Tech21 Trademark 120 > out effects send > MXR 10 band EQ > Line6 DL4 delay > Ernie Ball Jr. volume > in effects return > SansAmp XLR direct out to house

Nice and simple huh?

All I need is:
LP Studio -> Boss TU2 Tuner -> Ibanez Tube Screamer -> Fender Vibrolux Custom Reverb

I use a Fender Tele Deluxe (the one with a Humbucker at the neck) as my second guitar.

rocktron pro-gap preamp ---->mesa 20/20 amp----> b-52 4x12 = Skull Crushing

Interesting. Not much for rack gear, eh? (most of you, anyway) I would've figured on seeing more Hushes, compressors, etc. (Been eyeing that Pro Gap, cyanjaguar...you like it?)

For the majority, do you figure the "keep it simple and less shit will go wrong" approach is the reasoning, or is it a matter of $$$?

I guess some of the astoundingly cool "everything-in-one" floorboards they've got nowadays seem to curtail the rack a bit as well...

I like my Ibanez rack stuff just for that reason ... simplicity!!!!

I get like 8 or 9 pedals out of it w/out tons of patch-cables, dead batteries and all that cr@p :-)

and did I mention that its vintage :D

K.I.S.S...the more stuff in your signal chain the higher your noise floor will be. Before I got my podXT Live I had a gazillion things and I was telling myself I needed all of it...compressor, limiter, volume pedal, tuner, two types of distortion...pre-amp. I did a gig one night without all that due a logistical error and I ran straight into a Fender reverb twin. I never went back....until I got my Live XT of course. Its good to keep it simple...but of course that is all dependent on your music style.

My current setup is as follows:

Furman spb-8 pedalboard- Boss tuner, Vox v847 modded by Keeley with LED true bypass and DC jack, Boss/Keeley DS-Ultra, Keeley Compressor, Java Boost, Fulltone Tremolo, Boss ce-2, Line 6 DL4

My effects loop send on the pedalboard goes to the following rack gear:
Alesis Midiverb, TC Electronics D2 Delay, POD xt for occasional uses.

My acoustic setup is just getting going but this is what I would like to have:
a nice tube DI like a GT Brick, and either a RNC or a Presonus Eureka for compression and/or EQ to go with my Takamine Garth Brooks. I would also like to get a TC M1XL for some type of effects unit.
