Spirit Absolute 2's

Got them about 5 years ago, been meaning to replace them for a long time but I love em!

I just got my first monitors so i figured I'd add mine in. No more headphone only mixing for me :)

M-Audio Studiophile SP-5B. Got them for $20! So far so good.

if the old krk 8's and 6's are the same price, i should obviously buy the 8s right?

Just bought my first monitors. It's a pair of Rokit RP5's. Very pleased with the sound quality for the price.

Mixed on a pair of Alesis .7's for years. Got to know 'em relatively well in the end. But... upgraded to a BlueSky MediaDesk 2.1 system a little while back.

Quite the improvement.;)

I use Yamaha NS-A636 speakers with a 12" sub of some sort (polk? infinity? cerwin vega?) for the main nearfields. Phase Linear amplifier.

Tiny unbranded computer speakers for the midrange/mono/boombox reference.

AKG 240 cans.

40% of my time is spent on the headphones, 40% on the yamaha's and 20% on the computer speakers.

I have $180 in my entire monitoring setup and it seems to work fine. Sweet spot is small with the cheap yamaha's but I mix ITB, so it's no hassle. I'm not a gear snob. If it works, use it.

But I am also. . .

Alesis MkII M1

love them to bits... my first monitors i ever bought. was so impressed. anything better will blow me away.

Event ALP5s. A bit hyped in the mids but I really think they're the best I could do for the price.

M-Audio Bx8a......they were on sale. :)

Event Tr8- my babies.

time to move my Event 20/20's aside... (i may just put them in my pre-production room)

Can't wait for my pair of Dynaudio M3 monitors to arrive!! w/ a pair of chord SPA1032 power amps to go with it. ups freight says the whole package (in a wooden crate of course) weights in at 578 pounds, holy ----!!

the next ones will be a pair of Barefoot MM27's....

I've been looking at those 27's... One of these days, I'm going to have to replace my B&W N802's... I could go Diamond (D802's), or I could give those things a good test drive in here... Great, great speaker. He has a mastering version in the works, but... well, they've been in the works for a long freakin' time now...

I'm using Yorkville's YSM1P Series II with the 12 inch powered sub. They are great for the $$. I had to return 2 of them due to defects within the first month...they wouldn't power up so that put a black stain on an otherwise great purchase. The store was very quick to exchange them so no harm done.

Been using Yamaha headphones for several years and just ordered a set of the new Mackie MR5's. I won't have anything to compare them to since they will be my first real monitors. Anybody tried these out and have an opinion?

Tannoy System 800 here...I've always used Tannoys where I could...I learnt on them and use them now and probably will always use them...Unlike the NS10's which I cannot obide anyways, Tannoys never seem to tire me out, the mixes have always translated very well and I just love the duel concentric drivers...

Also in the new year I'll be grabbing a pair of Auratone 5c monitors as secondary reference...Once again have used these over the years and to my ears they work very well with the tannoys...They give you that 'small' speaker sound...Great for translating...

I've been using Samson 65a's with a sub. My buddy is putting together a home studio so we can work via the internet. Any suggestions of something that is in the $500 or less category and at least as good, if not better than the 65a?

I found a pair of Wharfedale Atlantic 300's in a skip along with Wharfedale Sys5000 seperates. Nothing worked very well when I rescued them but now everything is fine. Was a shame that the turntable had been smashed to bits but the Amp, CD, Tape & Radio were OK albeit not working right.

I know my way around electrical things though enough to make things work. Got me a nice little stereo for the price of £0

I can't afford expensive things for my hobby with a wife, 2 children & a morgage - but this set up is loud, clear and does a good enough job for me.
