Describe your signal chain..

SMC Productions said:AWESOME mic, I have two of them, and they are great. I'd like to have a whole chest full! ;-)
soundchaser59 said:This Nady RSM2 ribbon mic is identical to the Apex 210. But the Apex 210 comes inside a cordura bag inside an aluminum foam padded case so you can store it upright in a solid metal container, and the mic cable is integrated so you dont have to buy an extra cable.....
The Nady is $199 all over the web, but the Apex 210 is $153 from fullcompass.com! Same manufacturer, different distributor......
TravisinFlorida said:Do you have any samples available of a guitar amp recorded with with the rsm2 or 210?
ozraves said:I like the sE R1 Ribbon for guitar amp along with the AEA R92.
I also like the SM57 if you got high quality mic preamp to put it through.
soundchaser59 said:Oz is right about the preamp. Someone else mentioned a while back (it was probably Harvey!) that a guy really should look at the preamp+mic combination is one piece of the signal chain. My own basement side by side tests proved to me that changing either piece of gear can make or break the sound. Changing the mic can totally alter your opinion of the preamp, which in my estimation would be a mistake in judgment.
ozraves said:At some point though you just need to shut up and hit record.![]()
ozraves said:IMHO, the preamp doesn't matter as much with condenser mics as it does with ribbons and dynamics.
