I was just hacking around with my VF160 today, and it just occured to me what great machines these are (as are the VF80's, and I'm sure, the MR8's). Having worked with TEAC, Otari, Ampex reel to reel analogue; having to edit with razor blades, having to deal with hisssssss -- I am just bowled over by the quality that is available for a fraction of what things used to cost. I hope we all appreciate what we have at our fingertips... The technology is so good, it's gotten to the point where we're at the limit of what human hearing can discern. It may get faster and easier, but the sound won't get much better than it is now.
