everyone dont no how to play instrument..i know i dont..never played and instrument in my life..but i have a sound in my head and that is what come out in my music..i agree with you most rapper dont know haw to play and instrument..cause they dont have to ..all they have to do is rap over the beat..i dont rap..i just try and make a hot beat..and learn as much as i can..to better my music..
.... now why would you only do things that you HAVE to do? thats like the saying "I aint gotta do nuthin but stay black and die". if thats your thinking then let me be the first to tell you that you're going to stay black unless by some genetic defect that makes you fade to white. once you've cleared your genetic tests with a doctor, i guess all thats left for you to do is die. i WANTED to learn how to play guitar. after teaching myself how to play and how to read it, i can create songs. afterwhile i decided i was going to try my hand at rapping. and to do this i didnt have to buy anything from anyone. i was able to make my beats, my own hooks, record it myself. cuts down on overhead and the amount of "niggaz", "soldiers/soljaz" and "thugz" i need to have around me to create my product. as a matter of fact, i dont need any of them. and sometimes i wonder if I'm the only rapper without a criminal record! aside from a seatbelt violation one time. i guess it doesnt make me "hard" that i've never been to jail.

You are not alone I've never been to jail but I don't feel I need the "I'm hard" image.

This statement is what it SHOULD be all about. Making your music better not portraying a "hard image" by killing everybody in every verse of your song.

Think about about it if you fucked over or killed everybody in your song who would be left to listen to your music?

Hip Hop laughed at by real musicians?....are you serious?...In case you haven't noticed Hip Hop music has taken over the majority of music thats sold today. Who gives a S*** THAT so called "real musicians" ARE laughing...cause hip hop music and its producers, songwriters, artists, ceo's are laughing all the way to the bank. :)

thats the problem

This is half the problem with rappers and hip hop these days....People think that hip hop is ALL ABOUT portraying street life and coming up in the struggle.. Whta most hip hop fans these days fail to realize is The pioneers of hip hop did very little of this , it wasn't until NWA...and Biggies ready to die albums that this became "the way " of hip hop. Big daddy kane, rakim, boogie down productions, public enemy ....talked very little about street life as opposed to having fun...talking about rhyme skills and things...People FORGET or NEVER even knew that this was originally where hip hop's essence lays.....using a hot record and being the best at rhyming skills. As far as taking samples goes ANY IDIOT that is ANY kind of fan of hip hop Would never suggest that Hip Hop NOT USE SAMPLES at all....HIP HOP started by rapping over someones elses beat and making their own....THATS WHERE this all started..... Our production company samples very little these days , But we would NEVER give it up entirely.....sampling IS HIP HOP

Maybe in their dreams.

Hip hop albums only account for about 8 out of the top 100 most selling CD's of all time. Likewise, they rarely place in the top 10 most grossing concert tours. Also, few hip hop acts are able to sustain long careers that generate the MOST money in the vein of Madonna, Rolling Stones, Metallica or Prince.

Most hip hop is fly-by-night, here today, gone tomorrow short money projects that make a few millions overnight and then dry up to nothing. Like all busienss venture short money is always stupid money.

But believe whatever dizzope hizzype you wanna.

Not to someone doesn't have any money. Maybe from an investment standpoint, but for someone who will be doing something, regardless if it's professionally or just for fun, getting paid alot of money, even for a short period of time is a very nice reward. All of the store's I shop at still accept stupid money. The hard part is to invest that money instead of blowing it on crack and whores.

Seriously....you are living in the rock genre of music...AND I love all music and have a vast array of musical influences. That being said I do agree with you that not many Hip Hop artists are able to maintain long careers , with the exception of LL cool J and a few others, BUT...I'm not sure Metallica or Prince NEVER sold 800,000 copies of a record in 4 days, (50 CENT) and to my knowledge none of them ever took over as president of one of the biggest record labels in the U.S either. So there are pros and cons to both....all i was saying is that Hip Hop IS everywhere....commercials...clothing..language...It is truly an entire CULTURE like no other music has ever created. Kiss is probably the only other group on earth that was able to market themselves and make huge money outside of their music. Hip Hop artists jump into movies...clothing...commercials...radio.....AND you talk about top selling CD's of ALL TIME???...im talkin about the majority of music sold TODAY on average...what music is selling?...so just to give you an idea ...heres this weeks top ten billboard sellers.

1. green day
2.Eminem
3.lil john and the eastside boys
4.john legend
5.ludacris
6.destiny's child
7.shania twain
8.JayZ/Linkin park
9.Usher
10. kelly clarkson

By my count thats 6 1/2 for me 2 1/2 for your side of the music genre...and i was generous cause kelly clarkson did some pop/rock shit this time

Holla back :)

That's not a very good advise. Research ("done by Homeboy Shopping Network") shows that after going from black to white there is a 100% that you will become a child molester and slowly turn into a white ape.

Have you ever listened to a BDP album?

Their first album was CRIMINAL MINDED, it was about street life, one year after the release of that record Scott La Rock was shot dead (Since your probably dont know who Scott La Rock was he was the other half of BDP)

Public Enemy was about being poor, living in the ghettos, and fighting for a better life, although positive one some levels related 100% to street life

Big Daddy Kane was all about the women, being a pimp etc

Not much in hip-hop has changed

This was a terribly misinformed post

The essense of hip hop was around when BDP were children, Akrica Bambata, Grand Master Flash, Kool Herc, parties in the parks, and you know what? It was still about street life, they had dancable songs like Sugar Hill Gang with Rappers Delight

But for instance Grand Master Flash and the Furious Five were about street life

Songs like the message and white lines about drugs, alleysways and street life

Kids were getting shot and stuck up before, after and during the block parties

Street life is a very large portion of hip hop from the very beggining whether you like it or not, it started in the projects and inner city and caught on, but its still based there and everyone needs to respect that more then look down on it

Oh and clone boy your being a dick your obviously not a hip hop fan and don't understand it as well as someone who grew up listening to it

So I would suggest you leave the hip hop forums and preach this crap else where

I don't see rappers able to sustain it for the long haul though. How many 10 and 20 platinum albums do rappers have?

All short money.

If you look at the top record sales of all time you'll see Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, AC/DC, Metallica, Michael Jackson and The Eagles. How many rap albums sell 20 million? None.

Just because I disagree with something doesn't mean I don't understand it.

I know enough to tell the difference between the talent of early hiphop versus now.

No.

It's a free country. :p

Rock music still has 20 years on hip hop, in 20 years we can compare

Hip hop was birthed in the 70's and wasnt accepted till the 80's saw what I would consider its prime music wise in the 90's

Currently, Dr.Dre from NWA has been putting out platinum albums since the 80's he is not slowing down, both producing platinum artists who are lasting (eminem, g-unit, 50 cent etc) and making platinum solos

LL Cool J has been putting it down since the 80's

Beastie Boys although not always full on hip hop are still platinum since the 80's

Michael Jackson was Soul/RnB by the way and the current incarnations of RnB and Soul are strongly connected to hip hop
