What do guitarists use for drums?

I record my own drum kit, also use cutup loops that I sample from various places, midi sequenced drums, fruity loops any thing and everything. somtimes I bash out a beat on the drums then loop a section of that and then add some sample sounds using drumagog on a 2nd snare tracks that I will manually place on the off beat-whatever works..

I have also tended to use a lot of different drums. Mostly for producing backing tracks for otherwise solo live performance with guitar and singing. However, to get your own sound, I guess you should stick to one "drummer".

Using a lot of downloaded midi files for backing, I have recently changed all bass guitars to the same one. I intend to do the same with drums. And BFD drums has completely amazed me. Now I just need to find out wich drum kit to use and how to "mic it".

... I don't say you shouldn't keep experimenting with different drums, but generally you want to sound like a band, not something different from song to song.

I just use the drum set that sits in the corner next to my amp

Maybe I'm strange, but I actually just notate drum parts in Sibelius with the rest of my MIDI tracks, then use DXi and Sonic Implants Bluejay Drums (best drum soundfont out there) to give it some realism. It doesn't approach real drums for the discerning ear, of course, but I've had casual listeners express surprise when told that they're programmed.

I use an Akai MPC2000xl to record drum ideas and song demos and I get a real drummer for live and serious recordings. Also if you spend enough time programming drum loops and have good samples, you can fool a lot of people to think that is somebody playing it for real.
