wharfedale question....

went and listened to more last night....i've now listened to krk's, alesis, tapcos, sampson (rubicons), m-audios, and rolands....have been unable to listen to any wharfs. so far i've been dissappointed in the m-audios based on what i've read here...especially the bx8's...the low end just did not seem so be there...this is new to me, so i may be missing something :confused: anyhow, i'm still fishing, but i'm going to make a move soon! ;)
 
what reference cd's are you using to listen to the monitors? i would think that if you are'nt hearing decent low end in alot of different monitors, something else may be at play.
 
travis...this has been the most confusing purchase that i've ever been a part of!!! i went back to gc yesterday and listened to the m-audios and krk's again...this time the m-audios sounded good to me (the highs and mids were very clear compared to the krk's)...AND the lows came out better than before (to my ear)...it took a lot of flipping though...this guy knew much more about monitors in general than the guy that i dealt w/last...he said that you will likely need to tweek the filter cuts on the m-audios to get what you are looking for....i had a cd of my own stuff that i listen to (so i knew the what the low end should color like, etc...). anyhow, i think i've about decided to do full cirlcle and go w/the m-audios (bx8)...they have a price of 299 right now...(every where else is around 350-400)...must need to clear some out...i think m-audio is introducing the bx8a?

i can relate to that "full circle"..and a decision change!

sounds great..can't go wrong at that price and you got some good amperage too on the BX8.

alot of gear purchases are like that, full circle. those bx8's will probably be fine monitors for you. i've heard good things about them and that sounds like a good price too. when i was deciding on what to get, i ended up getting the wharf's because i got a good deal. i probably would have been happy with alot of the budget price monitors.
