I think I already described it and gave my thoughts on it earlier this thread. A nice looking piece of furniture ... I listened to it next to M-Audio, Blue Sky and Genelec subs and it probably sat 3rd out of those four, but that was only a very brief listening.

ok made in china. but only in the package box? or the speakers have the made in china too?

thanks again.

Alex, the boxes are stamped Made in China.

Just got mine today (God bless FedEX) and I have to say that listening through them is humbling. I auditioned them with some of my favorite CD's (Duncan Sheik, The Cures Greatest Hits, Interpol - Turn on the Bright Lights. I chose these because i love the CD's, not because they are special in some way) and it was hard to realize the plain truth: what I always through I was hearing was not what was actually there. It really does take getting a set of "real" monitors to put you in your place. For all those still asking, yes, these monitors do sound as clean as they say. The detail that you get is absokutely astounding. It was a little weird not getting that really deep, penetrating bass but, if I'm correct in my thinking, anything that makes these speakers really throb would probably turn regular speakers into jelly. Deepwater, your information was right on. Don't stop being cool.

Glad you like. Next best thing is to add the KRK RP10s. There is no Wharfedale sub for the Diamonds in the US. I think there may be one in the UK. The KRK RP10s does an outstanding job and not to expensive.

did buy today wharfedale pro 8.2 and an emu 0404 but don´t know how i have to go from emu to wharfedale.

emu 0404 have 2 unbalanced outputs and the wharfedale have unbalanced cinch inputs. Is this the best way or should i use unbalanced cables with balanced inputs ?

And another question is i have an sherwood rd-6106-R receiver and want to connect him with emu 0404 analog inputs. So i have to use an Y cable to make from 2 analog outputs 4 and can hear with the wharfedales and with my headphones without using the digital outputs from emu and the sherwood converters.

Will get both end of next week.

I use a standard insulated guitar lead 1/4in Jack to Jack straight into the Wharfies' no drama... yeah its balanced but If you 'aint got balanced out..then I suppose its not really Balanced In anymore..!!!

ok thank you

If it is possible, i will go with an balanced connection too, cause i want to buy later this year the 1820m.

way less

I just picked up a pair of DP8.2A Diamond Pro Active Monitors (6.5 in.) for only $230 from a local dealer. I'm so happy with them. they're amazing.

only for 230 $ you did buy the 8.2 or the 8.1 ?

do they ship to europe ? and how much would shipment cost ?

the euro / dollar kurs is very nice now :)

deepwater i think im gonna buy some wharfedale diamond 8.2's soon how much is shipping to NY

hey deepwater can i get a quote for the 8.1 and 8.2 shipped to Singapore? Thanks.

@ deepwater

a friend have not enough money to buy the actives and i did recommend him the passives but can´t find one to buy.

So he must buy the hifi version now but they are not magnetic shielded.

Is it possible to buy the diamond pro 8.2 passive from you ?

i want to buy my 8.2 actives here from equipment center for 298 euro and want to ask you for which price i would get them from you ?

Deep water could you send me information on those monitors i'd enjoy that

I read this whole thread a while ago and i am very intrested but.

Would these work well with hip hop / rap

The type of music has no bearing on what kind of monitors you should use. By their design, all your monitors should do is present the sound in the cleanes, clearest way possible in order to give you the information you need to mix your tracks. With hip hop you would want to add a subwoofer immediately. The wharfes will let you hear the bass and where it is in the mix, but it doesnt throb, and since so much of hip hop is drum and bass oriented , you really need that info.

PM Deepwater, he'll get you hooked up.

i did that already but i want to know if there's places i can buy them from in the UK not from america. thanks anyway.

Hi Lauren

Sound Control is, as far as I know, the only place that have them. But as they own Academy of Sound now, you can probably get them there too. Make sure you have a good listen to everything they have in the price range ... I chose against the 8.2As (as I keep saying!) because I could hear more in others. Keep an open mind :)

Garry - do you have the 8.2s then? What did you think about them?

Nik - yes, but they are the original hi-fi passive version, the one Massive originally recommended well before the active "pro monitor" version came out. I use an InterM R150 reference amp, which is kind of better than Alesis or Samson amps but not a Hafler! The 8.2's are a huge improvement over the Alesis M1 I had before. Far clearer, especially in the mids, and less fatiguing. Our guitarist has just come out of six weeks in the studio doing sessions for EMI and declared himself very impressed with the sound in here :) They are showing up my room deficiencies now.
