Look at the moulding, trim, and architecture. There are going to be some materials in there you just cannot get anymore. If you can re-use it, consider doing so.
This is a great idea!!!!Innovations said:Now, here is where I may differ with some of the recommendations: I would put all the interior furnishings, pews, altar, etc. into storage and do everything with gobos, freestanding booths, etc. so that if need be the entire thing can be put back as a perfect little church. Why? Movie and TV shoots. A perfect country church like that, with a soundproof control booth built in. would be golden to location scouts. One big week or two of production and you could have that building PAID.

Agree? This is a great idea!!!!

Not quiteFrederic <-- cheapest prick on the planet
My wie says I'm the biggest cheapskate there ever was. With a grin though.
But frederic, YOU are my kinda guy! And btw, I too collect steel exercise stuff. Man, the thrift stores and yard sales are FILLED with this stuff CHEAP. Some of the places I ALWAYS check the dumbsters for, are the local music stores and Radio Shack. Got some cool stuff from them. One cool thing was a bright red CURVED all aluminum extrusion ZILDIAN cymbal display. Very cool extrusions. I'm using it for my rackmount stand. I just got this sheet metal floor display for guitar effects. Even has a power supply for the effects built in. Amazing what people throw away. Trouble is, how much room do you have?
With my wifes ebay inventory HABIT(
) my place is packed to the brim now. Fuck. Can barely move in my shop. Especially with winter rains happening. Usually I can move stuff outside. But not now. Damn. Cold too, even though I have one of those "jet engine" kerosine heaters. Costs $15 in kerosine every 2 days if I run it. I'm laid off at the moment so no money for fuel. But I get dressed real warm and my little "side shop" where the workbench is has a door at each end. That way I can use a little electric heater and it stays real comfortable. Even the workbench is a total disaster right now from building my computor iso cab and my.....ahem..."sculpture". All the stuff I'm using on the sculpture is laid out on the workbench like a "palette." But its so much fun building something that don't have to do a damn thing but please my "aesthetics", I can't stop building it. Ha! I'm using all the old hardware and junk that I've collected for years. I'll post a pic of it when I finish. Its for the studio. I posted a pic of it on the Cave forum a couple of weeks ago and C7sus said..."that redefines the word HIDEOUS"
Oh well, to each his own. To me, I love the look. Later frederic. Why didn't you?Brad_C said:Yeah where I live I could of bought a high school for a buck (because it was closed down) This bulding was massive, also the gym had the super high wooden roof. The acoustics were amazing.

Couldn't you have bought it and sold it to builders for the land? Or would that not have made any money? It would here in Scotland, i think.Brad_C said:It would of cost me to much to keep the buliding going, would of ended up putting myself in the hole.

Yea, but you gotta have the "capitol" first to make capitollism work. Like they say, "it takes capitol to make capitol"Capitalism my friend, capitalism!

Wall closed the gym and build a big recording studio.
Then make all the classrooms "shops", and rent them out and call the high school a "strip mall".
Capitalism my friend, capitalism!

If it's a Hammond B3 with a leslie....right now i know of a church that wants to get rid of a Hammond B something model
