I'm wondering what you guys look for/at in the wave forms of recorded material on the screen. I'm aware of amplitude & clipping...is there more to observe that's helpful? Thanks.
It depends on what you're doing. For example, I've been digitizing a lot of my vinyl lately, and I'll often zoom in on the waveform to draw out a pop or click. Or if I'm working in Vegas and editing out a sloppy performance/bad note, I look for transition points that will make a smooth edit.
But mostly, I just look at them to confirm I'm actually recording something!
