I'm not sure that a bit of bleed would really be an issue unless you wanted to substitute with overdubs after the fact.

What mic do you have now? What is it about that one that isn't working for you?

Acutally i don't have any... and it's not for me, but for a close friend. His voice is completely outstanding.

And yeah, that cheating idea sounds great!! ;)

Btw... i see Christina Grimmie using a AKG PERCEPTION 220 and it sounds really good! Are the AT4047 or the Rode NTK much better than it?

In my book the AT 4047 and the Rode NTK are head and shoulders above that AKG 220 (which isn't a bad microphone at all!) In fact I have all three and use them when they fix the job.
If I had to make the choice it would be the AT or the Rode over the AKG as the first one to grab. ~ YMMV.

Moresound is good, Moresound is wise. The AT and the Rode you mention are in a different league to the AKG Perception.

I don't know the video you mention but always be aware that, just because you see a mic on set, don't automatically believe it was used to make the recording. Very often the mics on Youtube are there as props and the sound you hear was done in a studio.

I saw a video the other day where somebody was singing into a Neumann U87. However, I'd have been more likely to believe they used that mic live if she hadn't been singing into the narrow edge...

Point of Order!

If we're going to rule a galaxy, can we make it the Beery Way instead of the Milky Way?

Thanks for the info.. now i just have to research some basic audio interface and software.

Be sure and choose an interface that has a good Di for your guitar.

Do i really need a DI for an eletro-acoustic guitar?
Btw its a Breedlove 250 something

I was thinking of MBox Mini... but i haven't researched much yet

Yes. I would. YMMV
Unless your going into an amp then you would mic the amp.
Then again you could mic up the guitar acoustically.

Many variables.

Well i decided to get some cheaper stuff to start with... how about:
AT 4040
AVID/M-Audio Fast Track C400
Random 10-20 USD pop filter

Any other suggestions of mics between 100-200 that compete with the AKG Perception 420?
Do i need something else like an external accessory to use with these?

Well, you'll want an XLR cable long enough to move around the room and find the best acoustic--and a mic stand.

Oh i already have a cable and a mic stand :)

Btw i changed my mind and changed to a AT 4040.
Will i need a pre-amp for the mic?
