Holly mother, I's about to post this in newbies forum, but I think here's I might get better chances... It's about my Violin's pick up. Okay, it's called Fishman SV-100, and I put it very gentle there. Right on the bridge, slip the transducer in the top bridge hole, bellow the G string. Just good, I love the sound I get. Fat and bright. But... I didn't know, somehow everytime I hook it to any amps (DI, through to mixers), it has an anoying noises. Kinda like ground noise (hum). I then wire some small cable from output female jack to reach "chin rest" of the Violin, so the ground (-) contact my neck. The noises are reducted very much. But I think it's not a good idea to remove noises this way, which I HAVE TO always touch the chin rest even if I don't play it. Is there any other way to solve this problem ? since it's a bit smaller, thiner, and fragile than guitar, violin needs better approach.

DavidK ? anybody ? Thank's...

Anyway, I use very good cable I can trust.

Sounds to me like you identified the problem - poor grounding. I'm not familiar with the transducer. Does the pickup disassemble or is it a sealed unit?

An alternative would be a different pickup - maybe try a PUTW for a hundred bucks.

Yeah, I think so Treeline... The pick up...
And aaah, thank's for the link. It's very nice of you. Actualy, I'm looking for "Acoustic" sound kind of pick up instead of "Electric". Zetta is good, but the price I couldn't afford yet. Nah, not now, maybe next year. PUTW I will try to look in my local store. wish I can find it with "in my pocket" price. Thank's.
This thread's still opened for anyone who has opp. about reducing violin's pickup noises... ;)

You might find some good information at the MIMF site.

www.mimf.com

There's a whole series of threads on pickup wiring, transducers, mics and so forth. And if you register (free) you can get access to the archive, which is like going to a lutherie school on your own time.

Thank's guys...

Those links rock !!!
Thank's a lot guys. Think I would recomend 'em to guitarists / bassists also. Nice hole to dig.
