Vintage shure

Hey , guys..brand new guy here.

I just purchase a vintage shure 55s.
Are these more for nostalgia value , or do people still use them for recording?

We are going to use it for photos too, so either way its OK

I just picked up a 565S at a thrift store last week. It sounded like ass. I popped it open and removed the crumbling internal foam, behind the winscreen, plugged it back in and was blown away. Sounds great on vox and guitar cabs. Im not sure why Im posting this, just thought Id share.
