I'd miss out the patchbay and connect the buss outs directly to the delta and record that way

what exactly do you mean, LemonTree? USe the Group 1-2 and the ST outs instead of the insert i/os?

I found this diagram in a Mackie manual. Would this apply to the Yamaha mixers as well? Would the polarity issue also still be there?

I guess my question that I had earlier is, if a company takes the time to provide balanced mic level XLR and/or balanced line level phono connectors on a channel input, why would you want to use an unbalanced insert/direct out to your ADCs? I'm having a difficult time wrapping my mind around this. I must have undiagnosed OCD!

Being limited by my Audiophile 2496, I've been thinking about upgrading to a Delta 1010. I'd be wiring it up to my Neutrik NYS-SPP-L patch panel. I'd take all ten of the 1010's inputs and connect them to ten of the patch panel's jacks. What about the outputs of the 1010? I guess two of them would be the dedicated main outputs for monitoring, but what about the other eight? Do you use those for busses to external processing units? I'm curious how everyone is using their Delta 1010s. Do you 1010 owners use an external mixer? Also, I'd still need preamps for the 1010's inputs, right? Those are just line level inputs, correct?

Do yourself a favor. Buy a FirePod and forget about M-Powered. With the PCI phase-out already underway, throwing that kind of money into buying a legacy PCI peripheral seems like a bad long-term investment. If you're going to end up throwing something away in a few years and replacing it with the PCI Express (PCIe) equivalent, it's better to toss and replace a $30 FireWire card than a $400 audio interface.
