Good Day All.
I have the US-224 and I am wondering if anyone has experience with this machine. It came bundled with a version of Cubase and I would like to know if there is better software for this machine without spending too much. The bundled version is OK but It seems I cant record to CD with it. If anyone has any opinions or recomendations for this machine please let me know.

Another thing. How does one go about changing wav files to mp3. Do you need a different program than the bundled Cubase?
Thanks

Dude,

There are quite a few programs now that can be used with the US-224. I'm personally using N-Track. So far, outside from the usual program crashes (and frankly, the program is rather buggy), I've had no problems. In fact, the program seems to run better with the Tascam plugged in, and I get NO pops or clicks in my wave files, when I record with the ASIO drivers.

As for wave-mp3, do a search in on hitsquad.com. There are literally THOUSANDS of encoders out there. Cool Edit 2000 will also allow you to save your wave files as Mp3s. N-Track also has an mp3 conversion function, but I don't recommend it, as it uses the Bladenc encoder, and it tends to make files swishy sounding.

latency or stuttering issues

Hello... as this is my first posting... i have stuttering issues or lagging between notes while playing back audio.

could you offer suggestions whether this is a USB issue etc.

my specs:
-Laptop Pentium III 256 ram. and regular pentium4 PC
- Triton keyboard from Korg
- US 224 tascam audio card (plus cubasis software).

thanx

Try increasing the playback buffers in your software. That might help.
