i'm looking to have a friend in the u.s. buy me a danelectro 12-string, and mail it to me over in brazil. i'm planning to send it jack-the-ripper-style as neck and body in separate packages to save on shipping and customs taxes. are there any danelectro owners here who have unscrewed danos' necks before? is there any precaution i should take? anything that could prevent me from achieving a perfect setup when i put it together again?
They sure seem to go back in easier that way. That may not be practical for shipping. Just don't overtighten the screws and strip the holes. If you do, fill them in and redrill. Bolt-on necks are pretty forgiving, in my experience.
