The Cooper box doesn't sync machines with motors (tsr8, adat machines, da88 machines etc.) It simply takes smpte code in and spits out mtc...or the reverse. Useful for digital software sync and instances where code translation is needed...not syncing machines with motors.
A Motu Digital Timepiece or similar (that's Digital Timepiece, not Midi Timepiece) will slave either an adat or da88 (or both) to the tsr8. It even has the correct connectors for da88s and adats. In this instance, Trs8 is master.
As mentioned, you'd only have 7 tracks on the tsr as you lose the 8th track to timecode which is then read by the Timepiece in order to make the adat/da88 chase and lock into sync.
