TSR 8 sticky pinch roller

Just got a TSR 8 on ebay for $330.
Pretty good deal I thought. Just a little dirty. I think that's why nobody was bidding. So, what do you know.....I spent 10 minutes cleaning it, and now it's clean! $500. I figure I've made $170 worth of gear for ten minutes cleaning. I don't know. Anyway, I don't really know anything about these machines, but the pinch roller feels pretty sticky. Is it supposed to be this way, or are they known to get like this?? Should I try cleaning it or just get a new one?? Should it just be good solid tough rubber? This has a tacky feel to it.
Can anyone help?

Tacky pinch roller? It's probably dead. Get a new one from Tascam. If they don't have them in stock anymore, contact Mr. Witt at www.terrysrubberrollers.com - send him yours, get back a just-like-new one.
 
Yeah get the roller off asap, if its not completely making a mess it will soon. Tascam has them for $38 shipped...
