Good song, GONZO-X,

I'd like to hear the vocals about 15% louder. (Just one of the lead tracks right down the middle)

"moth on the moon shows the way" Is that what it said? I like that.

Did you post the lyrics in an earlier version? You should post them here.

I'm getting a Yes feel to this. Vocals are Anderson-esque.

Nice guitar tone and playing.

Drums could be a little wetter in my opinion because the song is dreamy and surreal.

That's all I got,

Wig:)

thanks wig :)

you know, i had the drums wetter on an earlier version....
and for some reason, i thought it was a bit distracting.
it'd be easy enough to try a little plate over the whole drum bus, and see what it does.....

yes, you're right about the lyric, i'll post it below.

the vox, i took down in volume, because i compared them to some classic pink floyd that i really dig, and the vocal mix was very comparable to that....
the louder i go with the vox in the mix, seem they distract more than add, and the spacey vibe starts to diminish...

Lyric:

The Shaman song

Watching you, late at night, asleep
Wondering what the future will bring
I can hear the clock, on the wall

Nurse- come see what it means.

All around, people come and go
I don't know where they came from
And I don't know what they know
But I’m here, alone

When, does, the answer, come

The shaman came as a lizard,
A moth of the moon, did shine the way
Into the sky, he flew away

And when we talk about him,
All the bad, is erased
And we celebrate his spirit
Every day.

RIP dad

i started a new more aggressive re-mix, based off of some critiques i've gotten, just to see how far i can tweak it in a more 'in your face' method...

louder vox, more aggressive panning, verb on the drums, seperate the two key parts (synth and grand piano) hard left and right, louder rhythm guitar parts (at one point i've got 6 sparse rhythm guitar parts going)

then i'll post the new version, and maybe i can get you guys to a/b them, to see which one works best.

my idea for the mix of this song, the methodology, is firmly rooted in a more dated, basic no frills classic rock sound.
i don't know if this is right or wrong....
but it's what i like for this one.

"the shaman came as a lizard" hmmm i don't know what to make of that, but it sounds cool... i can't help with the mix it sounds fine to me. i like.

"The shaman came as a lizard" reminds me of don Genero from Costenada's books.

thanks for listening you guys....

well, this was just a story about what actually happened.
the day my dad died, we had all been in the hospice room visiting, and most had said their last goodbyes...i was seeing everyone else out, and i was staying.

we were in florida, so there are lizards everywhere outside...
but we were well within the furthest point inside this pretty large hospice, and no outside doors anywhere near...

as we were leaving the room, i noticed a lizard on the floor, just hanging out.
struck me as kind of odd.

my father was 1/4 cherokee, and i know native americans have their 'beliefs' about animals and shamanism.

well, i picked the lizard up, to take it outside...
i went out, walked around the outside of the building to the side where my father's room was..
i walked down to where his window was, and there right above the window, sat the largest Luna Moth i've ever seen. It was out there, until he passed.

it just felt appropriate at the time, and this song is just telling the story.

that's a cool story and now you got a song to chronicle it, very cool. i listened to it again. it's good stuff. :)
