Aha! LOOKS like he is using the aforementioned Artisan A100 but that particular clip won't go full screen on my laptop.

The 2 x 4 x 12s should be loaded with V30s but you never can tell!

Dave.

Im not 100% happy with it either but for what I do its good enough.................for now.
That's pretty much exactly where I am at with it.
It's good enough for what I'm doing right now, but I'm not 100% happy with it.

I'm just not quite sure where to go next, I've tried pretty much everything in the same price bracket and the HT20 is the best (would be nice to have a separate head and cab though). The only one I might return to is the DSL40. I'm a lot better at dialing in amps now then when I originally tried it so its probably worth another go. The choice then is whether to go to the next price bracket up (800 - 1100 quid) or go fully mental and spend about 2 grand on something. Depends what I'm doing at the time though - if I'm still just messing about writing and recording tunes at home then I'll stick with something similar to what I have.

it's worth spending money IF you find an amp that makes you go "ooooh".
Just like that special ax, a special amp changes the way you play in good ways.
It's NOT worth big bucks if you're not toally sure but when you find magic, it's usually worth the extra ducets.

Fair point - I've just not come across that yet - but then I'm not looking at the expensive gear.... yet.

Getting a nice guitar just made me obsessed with guitar playing again.

JDOD I think you need to just bite the bullet and get a Mesa. That is your sound IMO. Certain amps go with certain styles and sounds, and your style and sound begs for the Mesa Single/Dual Rec sound.

And it would be cool to get some Mesa clips in here. :)

LOL - OK. I'll get a Mesa to take one for team on The Tone Thread! I do need to at least try one of the 25W versions though. The only one I've tried was a 100W Dual Rec head.

Anyway... I was noodling and came up with a riff/tone. Then worked out what chord should be with it. Turned out fairly predictable - fun to noodle with though.

Anyway, amongst the discussion of amps my blues tone sunk like a stone!

Also, this might amuse you lot. Europe's biggest Elvis Festival has just descended on my little town. Porthcawl Elvis Festival - The Premier UK and European festival
Might wander down this evening, have a beer and see if I can spot The King.

Sounds pretty good. Needs more feeling though. You gotta make us sad with it!

LOL - well this make you sad. I took your advice, stuck a delay in the loop and went "The Full Dokken" (bare in mind, I'd never heard of Dokken)

Still a tiny mistake in it but I can't sort it now as I just got told I could be heard at the far end of the garden!

That tone is all clean channel by the way.

The picking left is a split coil in the neck with the SD1 on G0, L10. The lead on the right is the OCD vole and drive on 9O'clock on the bridge humbucker.

Lol. Needs more gain. You need to listen to some Dokken, you'd fucking love them.

Not really, they're shit.

But....George Lynch is one of the more respected hair shredders.

Jesus, they're terrible. The rhythm tone is minging. To be fair to the lead guy though, the playing is actually quite interesting.

JDOD's new guitar hero:

As far as hair-metal guitarists, George Lynch is actually way up there near the top of the heap. I always liked his playing, but this was before I gave a shit about tone...He's still one of my favorite guitar slingers from back then, & I always thought if Dokken could replace their singer, they'd sound much better, I can't stand Don Dokken's vocals...Lynch finally started another band called Lynch Mob around 1990, but they were pretty short lived...

Here's something from Lynch with Korn's drummer, & King's X bassist/singer:
