The New Tone Thread

I would be pretty freakin stoked to hear a 'Bodies' cover come out of the tone thread. That was my favorite Pistols tune. Covered it in a high school band way back.

Also in other news i have rediscovered my love for a band called Clutch. That tune called Soapmakers. So good.

As always my void and lack of participation will be enhanced. I am being sent away for work for close to a month. I'll lurk on you guys as i so often do. Miss all ya's.

Do you mean a full on cover? I've already posted a sample. :)

I've gotta listen to all these clips to catch up, gimme a little while...

Well, in the earlier clip I THOUGHT I had it in the classic position midway between the edge and the dustcap. My grille cloth is so effing opaque it's hard to tell even with a torch. It turns out I was much closer to the edge than I thought.

Bubba, if you're not worried about "messing" your cab up, take a sharpie, & make a little circle where the center of each speaker is. You'll need your flashlight shining in there while you do this, & believe it or not, black works the best. I did this to my bastard cab, & it really helps with the mic placement. The last clip I posted, I'd just threw the mic up a little off of the "dot" on my grill cloth...

You can see the dots pretty easily here on the top speakers (the bottom "dots" are there, you just can't see 'em because of the lighting in the pic):

These look like they're pretty crooked/off center, but it's just for a general idea of where the cap is...

You'll probably have to put a couple/few layers on it with the sharpie, but it actually does help dude...

Bubba: I liked the last clip you posted better than the rest dude...Can't comment on how close it is to the original though...

Jdude: It is nice to be able to see what you look like....Holy fuck, you're a kid man!!! Nice playing dude, I'm gonna have to get off my ass & do a little video myself...

As always, Lt. Bob reigns champion for the video clip. I'm surprised there weren't panties & bras flying around. Who else do you know that plays guitar, sax, sings, plus runs the rest of the band from his keyboard, all at the same time??? On top of that, he does this several times a day, every day of his life....My hat's off to ya Bob!!!!

I always hated when those guys would just pop up on stage, super job dude!!!!

Miner, I'm 36 in a couple of months!

Thanks, Miner - I probably won't do that to my cab as it's onstage with me every week, but I might get some little stickers. :D

Yeah man, like I mentioned, you may not wanna do what I did, but there are little things we can all do that'll help us along the way, whatever works for you is what you need dude...I tried all kinds of things, stickers, tape, etc., but I wanted something permanent & this works for me...

Haha. That's good I suppose! Even though I've bought my third house (I did sell the last two) last year and have even been divorced!

Yeah dude, I didn't mean anything by that, it's actually a compliment. I'm 45 & I look like I'm a lot older than I really am. Grey hair, my beard is completely white (when I don't shave anyway), but that's life....It's all good Jdude!!!

I haven't specially made a video for this thread, but seeing as we're posting videos and if you would like to hear my live tone in context and see my laughably pasty-faced visage, check this out. :D

Oh, and it's the talented scion of House Po drumming on this. :thumbs up:
