What kind of wah do you have dude??? I've got a guy offering me a Crybaby 535Q in a trade.....IIRC, ain't that the same one you use??

I've contacted him to see what he'd take in trade for it...I was supposed to trade the V30 & a T-75 for some shit a week or two ago, but I backed out...I would have been getting a Boss od pedal (can't remember what the fuck it was now....) & an Eminence speaker, but I backed out, I honestly don't think I need those 2 things...

We'll see about the wah though...I wouldn't use it a lot, but it would be nice to have a real wah...

Good sound Greg. Not the reverb though - it was too long and too far to the side.
I've jumped my amps occasionally. Just for fun.

And now one of my headphones has started farting at me. Think I had better finish this beer and go to bed.

Psssssst.

Hey Guys. Guess who got a new toy to play with. :guitar: Going shopping for new hard drives tomorrow for the new to me computer so i can get this rig set up and start mucking with some tones. Oh yes. My brother delivered as promised in getting ready for new baby and making room. I will be sure to spoil that child when it graces the earth haha.

Excuse me, while i go tinker.

New Computer should have a clean OS install this week so hopefully i can FINALLY contribute something that isn't an amp sim. Or you know put it in a song somewheres!!! :thumbs up:

Awesome dude!!!!! What speakers are in the cab??? I had GAS for an Orange OR15 for a while, but I think I'm good on amps for a while, with the DSL100, Chupa, DSL-1 & T15....lol...

I hear ya on the computer thing too dude, by today's standards, my pc is old....I've had it about 5 years now, but it's still going pretty damn good, especially since it's an off-the-shelf Gateway quad-core....I did put an extra hdd in it when I got it, I picked a 1tb Barracuda 7200 rpm, & so far so good....5 years & it's only crashed on me once, about a year or so ago...(fingers crossed)...

On the ampsim thing, dude, I wouldn't worry about using ampsims, you've gotta do what you've gotta do...Even with the amps I have, I still use 'em....I've actually been playing wit the Bias desktop demo the last few days, & I'm actually impressed with it, it does have some pretty decent sounds...

Congrats on the rig dude, looks great!!!!!!

There's nothing wrong with carefully used amp sims if they suit your situation. If you live in a terraced house (loads of us in the uk) or flat (apartment to you yanks) sims are a great way of making something sound pretty good for writing and recording tunes. You can amp them later if you need to.

Not all of us live in detached houses where we can crank a stack up whenever we like - Greg, I'm jealous.

Sims suit me great cos I spend most of my weeks in hotel rooms too. I can write in the week, record riffs so I don't forget them, come up with an ideal arrangement then put that together properly on the weekend.

I find the main problem with sims if that there are so many options all you do is fuck about with them and never actually get a tone you like and just play! They are fucking poison for creativity. After years of cocking about I've saved 3 or 4 sim tones and just stick to them. I think you just get overwhelmed by the shear number of options you have at first.

Can tricky to stop sims sounding synthetic but I find if you limit the gain you use and boost using a pedal into your AI then things sound a bit more natural.

Sure if you went for one of the latest sims like Revalver you could get amazing tones but having tried it I have a few problems a) I don't want to pay for it, b) I'd need a new computer to run it, c) it's so complex that I don't want to spend a year cocking about with it to create 5 or 6 tones and that I like then ignore 99% of the product.

I think that's why I considering amplitube next as it's cheap, you can buy it in bits as you need them and it suits my hotel room set up.

I did think the acoustic sim was cool in revalver though.

Minerman,
Nice Tshirt except to be a genuine Marshall it's have to be "neighbours".

Awesome rig, shan! Fucking Orange amps are making a big comeback. Not that they should even have to. Orange has been awesome for decades. Can't wait to hear it. :)

Speaking of computers, and old ones, mine's over 10 years old now. It's ancient, but somehow keeps on ticking. I need to get another one though. I'm just so out of the loop I don't even know where to begin. I just keep backing this one up knowing the inevitable is right around the corner...

If you need help picking out a PC, I can help. You'll do better getting a custom build - I don't know any US builders, but I can help with specs. If you can be bothered, building your own is easy, but it's a bit of a pain installing Windows and drivers, etc.

Thanks, I'll do that. I don't want all the bloatware shit that comes with a store-bought computer. I just want internet and recording power.

I'm going to go shoot some guns today like a proper Texas retard. I'm not a gun guy, but my brother-in-law and some cop buddy of his put together some gun group shoot thing today out in the boonies. I think I might die today.

Give me a shout if you want help speccing a machine up.

I went clay pigeon shooting on a stag weekend once. It was pretty good fun. I don't like the idea of people having guns, but they can be fun for just target shooting. If I ever visit America, I'd probably have a go on a shooting range - a friend of mine went to one in Vegas and when he mentioned it was his birthday, they let him have a go on a grenade launcher (like the one in Terminator 2) - I don't think it was live grenade rounds he was shooting, though!

The US is gun crazy. We dug ourselves into a gun culture hole that we can't get out of. Criminals have more firepower than the police, and regular citizens sometimes feel they need to be locked and loaded at all times just to protect themselves. And then you have the borderline psychotic freedom-fighter gun nuts that hoard weapons and ammo for the day the government comes to kick in their door. I understand that people have hobbies and interests, but a lot of these gun nuts are just nuts. Gun mentality is disgusting. I used to go dove hunting as a kid, so I have a few old shotguns in the house, but the wife and I are getting our concealed carry permits so we can carry a handgun if we want to. I don't like it at all, but you know what? Musicians have been getting held up at gun-point after gigs and getting their gear stolen. That's just way too fucked up for my liking. I'll be damned if that's gonna happen to me. Do I want to die over a guitar? No, but I'd like to have more say in the matter if possible. If someone else wants to die over my guitar, that's their choice. Dudes are getting creepier and more aggressive towards women out on the streets. I see it all the time. A woman on the side of the road with a flat tire is is like a wounded zebra in the Serengeti. I'd want my old lady or daughters to blast a motherfucker in the face if someone ever actually fucks with them. Seriously, I hate gun mentality, but shit's getting stupid over here.

Guns are unfortunately a necessary evil in this country. It's fucking stupid and I hate it. Race riots, cops are the bad guys, anti-white sentiments, civil unrest everywhere. I hate that I'm starting to feel like I need to protect myself.

That's pretty lame. I have to wonder how much of your feeling on this stems from the overhype and selective attention of the media. I found that stopping watching TV and the news made me a lot less worried about that type of thing, but then, we don't have a lot of guns here - I've never seen one except in places where you expect (like at clay pigeon shooting, held by certain types of police, at the US embassy, etc.).

Does a concealed carry permit mean what it sounds like (i.e. you're allowed to hide a gun on you)? Is that a state by state thing? Sounds scary.

I've been seeing this coming for a long time. I'm not a victim of media sensationalism. Just being out in the city all the time, I see everything. The work that I do and playing live music for more than half of my adult life puts me out there. I've worked in the worst parts of this city, and the bars and clubs are spread all over. Houston isn't zoned so everything is spread everywhere. Shit is evil.

Yeah a concealed carry permit means that I've been declared a safe and responsible member of society and I can legally hide a gun on me somewhere. Texas shares their laws and rules with several other states. I don't have the list handy, but I can travel to most of the country with my six-shooter if I want to. Like if I want to drive from Texas to Florida with my gun, no problem.
