Spent a couple hours today cleaning, re-stringing & setting the intonation on the strat (I thought it was a Squire, but it actually says "Starcaster" on the headstock & has a little Fender logo, but wasn't the Starcaster a hollow body guitar??) the girlfriend got me a couple/few months ago...I'd originally thought about putting the single coils (actually just swap the whole pickguard/pickups out) in my MIM Strat, but fuck it, I'll have true single coil tones now with the Squire, plus the strat I already had with a humbucker...
I have no idea how much she gave for the guitar, not much I'm assuming, she got it from some young kid through a yard sale thing on Facebook...I just could not believe how fuckin' dirty this guitar was...I don't keep my guitars spotless or anything, but I do have to say, this was the dirtiest, nastiest, crudded-up guitar I'd ever saw in my life...
Here it is, in all it's glory....

.
Actually, it plays & sounds pretty good considering it's a cheap guitar, plus, I won't be using it all that much either really....I did run it through the DSL after I got done with the strings/setup, & it sounds ok....Not great, but I didn't expect much from it honestly...
I dunno if the knobs are what came on the guitar from the factory, but they look yellowed up, & I actually soaked them in fuckin' bleach trying to get them white again, the pickguard & pickups were almost that color before I cleaned it up...I took all the saddles off/apart, did a pretty thorough job on it...Again, I could not believe how dirty this thing was, so with a little elbow grease, & a little time spent on the action, I've got strat toans now whenever I want 'em...
