Lt Bob,
I've learnt something this morning then. I'll listen more closely next time I pick up a different guitar.
Minor OOPhase normal - but with the Guyatone probably wired, (rewired), that way & creating a greater difference. I'll let my brother -in-law know, (it's his guitar), since he'll be getting a pick up in the other Mosrite copy rewired he can get the harness sorted on this little fellow.
Thank you sai!

Ok guys....the guy with the Chupa messaged me back, & I'm gonna pull the trigger on it in the morning....I'm assuming it'll take a few days for the Paypal transfers, & assuming again the shipping will take about 3 days (he's from Texas Greg...LOL), so hopefully in about a week or so, I'll have my hot-rodded plexi....Stoked as fuck guys, really excited about this one, the DSL was kinda an impulse buy, just because I could, but the plexi is something I've wanted for years now....

I am gonna have to buckle down after this purchase though, I've gotta get some tires for my Jeep, my yearly insurance is almost due, & some other shit I gotta take care of, but I can still get my "small" stuff on my list too, like mics, pedals & shit like that....

Really, really excited about this amp guys!!!! He supposed to hold it for me until the $$$ transfers over to him, so, if he's a man of his word, it's a done deal....STOKED!!!!

Thanks man, you know, it is a used amp, & hopefully there won't be any issues with it, but I saved about $500 buying a used one....Stoked man, stoked!!!!

It's always a crap shoot, but on the plus side, people that order and buy those kinds of amps usually know what they're doing and don't go trying to mod it. It's not an amp for beginners that don't really know what tone they're looking for. So in that regard you're probably not getting some guys failed project. If it does have some technical problems, it's probably nothing that can't be fixed well within your $500 savings cushion.

what Greg said ......
Congrats on getting an amp you're super excited about ...... that's always fun.

As for being nervous about buying used ...... I haven't bought a new amp in decades except that little 5 watt Ampeg.
ALL my other amps were bought used.

That's the thing about a good tube amp ..... they last forever for the most part.

A significant amount of the circuitry consists of the tubes so while it's true that tubes need replacing (power tubes that is ...... pre-amp tubes can last for 40 years), when you replace a tube you're replacing a chunk of the circuit so even if you have problems you fix it by replacing a tube.
And when it's something else it's usually something easy to fix even for a newbie.

I'm as psychotic as they come about not wanting used stuff but amps are one thing I don't worry about at all.

Again ..... congrats!

Thanks guys...
Yes, it is a crap shoot anytime you buy anything used....cars, guitars, whatever....but, I'm all about saving $$$ when I can, & this deal is gonna save me about $500, which I can really use for other things that I actually need....hahaha...Like I mentioned, this is gonna be the last "big" thing I buy for awhile, I've gotta buckle down & get some shit taken care of, but, I'll still be able to buy an occasional mic, pedal, different speaker for my ISO cab, or something "small", but will most likely be after the first of the year before I pull the trigger on anything with a big price tag on it....

Here's a couple pics of the amp (not mine, the guy that's selling it posted these for reference) ....remember what I talked about Greg???LOL...

Got my fingers crossed there will be no issues with the amp, I'll find out in a few days...Pretty excited, I'm gonna have that "bonk" & "kerrang" that I've been wanting for so long now....:D.

Awww man, a Marshall logo? :laughings:

That reminds me of the guys that put GTO emblems on their LeMans.

But it any case, looks nice. Looks like a 50w small head cab. I like it. Those external bias points are a nice touch.

So I see the two speaker jacks, but those others, is that fx loop? Which one is send and return?

Yeah dude, a Marshall emblem....LOL...I really don't give a fluck though, as long as it's got that "kerrrang" & "bonk" I've been after...

Yes, fx loop, but you're right man, it looks like there's no marking/labeling, I'll have to find out from the guy I'm buying it from...

Hit the "transfer funds" button just a few minutes ago, but again, it'll probably take a few days for everything to get sorted, but I just pulled the trigger on it...

Something else I'm gonna have to invest in is a meter....what do you guys use to bias your amps with??? I know it's a bit late for me to be asking this, but I'm totally green on it.:laughings:...Lemme know.....

Gotta get ready for work, but I'll be back...

Lemme know about the meter & whatever else I'll need...FWIW, I've never even pulled the DSL's chassis out of the headshell.....

For the amp I just built, I used a £5 digital multimeter (Pocket Multimeter M300) for all the testing before I switched it on, including the measurements for calculating the bias. The company that I bought the amp kit from included a spec required of a suitable meter - you should probably check for the same from your amp manufacturer.

Yeah just a regular digital multimeter will do with test points like that. Thing is though, it looks like you'll still have to yank the chassis to get to the trim pot if it needs adjusting. The bias test points are awesome, but it's only half the battle without a corresponding external trim pot.

When you test it though, make sure you check your plate voltage first and do the simple math to calculate where your bias should be. It's all very easy. Even a Gerg can do it.

Cool guys...I'll ask my brother if he's got an extra meter lying around...he's a certified electrician, & should have one....I'll see if he'll give me his Simpson meter....LOL....Just kidding, I'm sure he's got one though, & should have an extra for little bubby...

The guy selling the amp said the loop is labeled, it's just hard to see in the pic....Pretty excited guys, finally gonna have a plexi, like I keep saying, I've been wanting one forever now....

Thinking really hard on selling my little amps too, I could probably get enough out of 'em to pay for this amp, or the biggest part of it, or something else...There's really no comparison between my little amps & the 100w DSL, at all...Sure, the DSl-1H has about the same pre-amp & shit, but just the raw power of the DSL100 makes it very easy to get decent sounding tracks, without jumping through hoops like the little amps....

Gonna grab a shower & something to eat...

Yeah your little amps are now redundant and little more than nice looking door stops. :D

I don't know that amp, but I'm a little familiar with Ceriatone, and their stuff has always been good to me. I'm sure it's gonna be pretty awesome.

Sell them little amps. Hell, you might wanna sell the big DSL too now if that Chupcabra ends up being "the one".

I don't think I'd have any problem selling the DSL-1H, at all....The Tweaker on the other hand, might not get rid of it so easily....Dunno man, I'd like to keep 'em in a way, but they're not getting used at all, & it's gonna get even worse when the Chupa arrives....

Don't think I'll be selling the DSL100 dude, that's part of my "collection"...LOL...If I ever decided to play a gig, that's the amp I'd probably take out too, channel swticher....

Pretty excited about the Chupacabra to say the least....:thumbs up:.

I know it's not YOU that did it.
PLEASE replace the marshall Logo.
or put CLONE underneath it.
Amp cloning is an acceptable thing.
Knock off badging isn't.

unless you sell it misrepresenting it as a Marshall, I just don't see how that has any importance whatsoever.

It's not a big deal. I was just picking on him.

I know a guy with a few Bogner amps. He modified the logos to read "Boner".

My '79 2204 is in a Plexi head cab. It looks fine, but I really wanna get a proper head box for it. The late 70s Marshall look is by far my favorite.

All tolex
9" logo
Big white piping
Rounded corners
Looks good.

Lol, I've stirred up some shit with the Marshall logo....LOL....I'm just gonna leave it like it is, if I ever decide to get rid of it, I might change it, but if it's what I'm expecting, it's not going anywhere...I don't think it's a big deal myself, but to each their own...

I think I am gonna sell my little amps though, I could probably get enough $$$ out of 'em to get another cab or guitar, & I really wouldn't be out anything that way....They're collecting dust, so I really wouldn't miss 'em....

Gonna grab a shower guys...

Greg ..... I was responding to rayc who seems to feel it's important to remove it and that's just not computing to me.
I mean, what difference does it make unless you're selling it as something it's not?

I wear a Duff Beer Delivery Man shirt on some of my gigs ........ I'm not one though, ya' know?

To claim it is a Marshall and selling it as such, that's unacceptable .... but otherwise I can't see any reason that it matters.

lol ...... kinda makes me want to put some Marshall logos on some of my stuff! :laughings:

I'm just playing Ray ..... but I don't see the issue.
