I snagged this new Angus SG today for half price. Couldn't resist. I've been watching it at a local GC for like a year, they kept dropping the price. I guess SGs aren't popular out here in the burbs. I'm not usually a fan of sig guitars, but damn this thing plays nice and hell, Angus is cool. I'm not embarrassed to have this sig guitar. I aint gonna lie, the lightning bolt inlays make me a little happy.

This thing is based on Angus's most used 68 SG. It's got a very slim, slightly narrowed neck. I prefer necks like that. My Les Paul has the slimmed 60s neck and I love it. This one's a little slimmer. The neck on this SG is about the same as my Hallmark Mosrite. Really nice to play. The narrower neck at the nut is taking a little getting used to though. No heel means total fret access everywhere. 57 Classic neck pickup, Angus signature humbucker in the bridge. The Angus HB is hotter than my Les Paul's Burstbucker 3, and a little milder than a common standard 498T. It falls somewhere between the 490 & 498. It's my hottest pickup. I'm generally a fan of milder moderate output humbuckers, but we'll see how it goes. Cool guitar though. I've always been an SG fanboi.

man ..... that's gorgeous ..... I've been kinda wanting a SG lately ..... that one's nice and the inlays are great.
 
My 1st bass was an EB copy & I've been keen on the SG shapes since then ('74). The edges were more scollaped on my copy but it was acheap MIJ lawsuit type.
I keep lookingat the Epi SGs taht are around these days - they look nice but they're a little pricey for someone with such modest ability as m'self, let alone a REAL SG.
They look heaps better without the tail piece some have - mind you I think a Bigsby makes it look even tougher.

Also had a power tube start to crap out on the Plexi, so I gotta fix that too. Got some new JJs for it.
 
Have any of you guys ever heard of Soldano amps ? Their not new but I don't hear much about them. Listen to the tone of this Les Paul in this video. They sound a lot like a Plexi to me, but a really great one that's been aged and broken in just right. Anyway, they are very expensive but sound like their worth it.

Soldano is old school. The SLO100 is a great amp! You get all the tone of a Marshall + overdrive pedal for quadruple the price! :D
 
They are a fortune, he makes a combo (called the lucky 13) that's two amps in one. The clean channel is built like the best old twin reverb you could find and the overdrive is like an old Plexi. With a few pedals you could cover every great guitar tone you can think of, with one amp.
 
Damn Greg, another fuckin' Gibson????? I like the Angus sig dude, very nice.....Yeah, I'm dating/seeing another woman already too, & don't think my music is gonna be a problem with her....Of course, that's not why me & the other half split, but it is cool that she said she'd support me in whatever I do....And of course, if not, move on....:laughings:


Nice guitar dude, things are ok for me, just hangin' in there....I might start tracking the guitars for the album this week.....just depends on how fuckin' tired I am after work.....
 
Yeah dude, she's already trying to get me to order a JVM, JCM or anything like that I want....LOL....She even told me to buy one on the payment thing....LOL...Of course, she has no idea how fuckin' loud these amps are, but, so far so good....I'll be getting one or all the shit I've been wanting all this time eventually though, just have to get my ducks in a row for the future....The "warden" just needs to sign the papers, & even if she doesn't, the divorce will be final in a year anyway, if she signs 'em, 6 months....Things are a lot different for me now though, I really don't know how to act being able to do what I want, when I want.....I fuckin' love it man, again, just a little while longer getting shit lined out, & I'll be in there with the gear I've been wanting all this time, plus everything else.....Life's good for a change, I was totally fuckin' miserable before, dunno if you realized that or not.....
 
Ok guys, probably my last post for a few days, just letting you all know I'm still hangin' in there, but I'll be back, maybe with some toans next time....Had a fuckin' brainstorm, put some toans on a memory card & take 'em with me....LOL....

I did kind of get that impression from your posts. Lol. I didn't wanna say anything because I don't know her, but it seemed to me like your ex was a bit of a nazi. I'm just glad you're moving on if that's what's best.
 
Yeah man, sure we spent like almost 16 years together, but the last 5 or so were miserable for me.....I worked everyday, & really had nothing to show, even after all those years, I ended up with my music/audio/recording rig (which is my desk, computer, software, etc), a few guitars, & a few clothes....I've always put the ex & the step-son before myself, it's how I was raised, & what I'm supposed to do, you know???? But the things that were going on while I wasn't around, plus the missing $$$ just put me over the edge....I'd been suspecting for a long time, but part of it finally came out, so, I beat feet....I'm still helping 'em too, even if I don't really have to....That woman can never say I haven't been good to her/step-son, because I'm still taking care of their asses even after being gone for almost 2 months....Ok, rant over....LOL....

Thought my previous post would be the last for a few days, but, I managed to squeeze another in.....2 weeks & I go on vacation.....Fuck, feels like I've been on vacation for the past 2 months.....:laughings:
 
Ok managed to squeeze one more post in before I head off to work, meant to tell you guys over in the Marshall Roadhouse, the guy finally posted the schematics/pics for the other DSL-1 mods, but I'm on the fence about doing all that....As it is right now, I could just re-solder a capacitor back to the board & it would make the little amp stock again....Plus, I'm gonna be getting another amp (or three...lol) before too long anyway, so I think I'm just gonna hold out a little longer, & not fuck the 1watter up....

I've been debating between one of the new DSL's or the 4-channel JVM....Obviously, the JVM would be more versatile tonally, & would probably be all I'd ever need for any situation (recording or playing live, if that ever happens again), but, the DSL is way cheaper, & of course I don't wanna spend more $$$ than I have to, remember, I'm a cheap fucker....LOL....

Most likely though, I'll try to find a used JVM & 4x12 cab, that should be all I'd ever need for anything really, plus, I'd still have the DSL-1 (which is a great little amp IMHO), & the Tweaker (which is a good little amp too, just more vintage-y).....

Even with all I've been through in the past few months with my Dad, & now the split/divorce (which is already paid in full btw...), I feel a lot better, I'm happy (haven't been this happy in years), & look forward to what the future has in store, before the split, I was stuck in a rut, with no hope....Fuck, I feel like a teenager again....LOL....

Gotta run guys, I'll check back with you all in a few days....
