This is my first time trying an "album"....I usually just do one song at a time, but this time 'round is different....

Off to work guys....

No work tomorrow....whoooo!!!! I hate that fuckin' place sometimes....well, most of the time....LOL...

Donk replied about the mods, & he's gonna post the pics/diagrams to have the crunch mode in the green/clean channel, so I'm stoked...It'll be next weekend before he'll post 'em, but that's ok, I'll have to wait that long before I order any parts anyway, so it's all good....

He did say when I wire/solder the toggle switch with the resistors, it'll drop the gain more on the red channel (od1)...He said with the gain dimed, it should be about like having it on "6" or so stock, so that sounds even better...

Pretty stoked to be honest, but I'm kinda "iffy" about it too....I know I can pull these mods off, I just hope I don't fuck my amp up beyond repair....LOL...I'm pretty sure all of it will be really simple, the od1/od2 thing is very simple, & I'm guessing the crunch thing in the green channel can't be much more really than adding a couple resistors to a switch, & putting 'em into the green channel's pre-amp path...

We'll see...I think it's gonna be cool to have the same features as the big DSL's, with the ability to use 'em at 3-4 in the morning...something else I'm pretty stoked about is, I probably won't have to use an od pedal anymore, as I'll have the 4 modes to use for different levels of od/gain.....Pretty cool IMO....:D

Post has been flagged for removal! What was the deal?

That JCM800 I linked on the English site the other week turned out to be a scam.

I guess it was a scam. The listing was JCM 900 DR for $100.

If it's too good to be true, it probably is.

How was that 800 a scam?

Not sure - as I'd replied to the ad, the website emailed me to tell me the seller had been flagged as a scammer. The ad disappeared from the site quite quickly.

I need to get into the scamming business. It must pay off or it wouldn't be so prevalent now.

Craigslist gets weird as shit sometimes. When it works it works, but some of the freaks and scammers on there deserve to get a good pummeling about the head and shoulders with the business end of a rusty shovel.

too harsh? :o

not really ..... I have about 5 amps to sell but I'm wary of messing with Craigslist ....... seems like it'll be a LOT less hassle to just keep the damned things

Nah man, Craigslist is easy. Way easier than ebay. Especially since you'd be the seller. You'd be the weirdo. Lol. Make the ads and sit back and wait for the offers to roll in. No fees, no shipping, no paypal, no billing, straight cash, homie. Profit!

yeah I suppose but then I have people coming to my house I don't know .... calling me and shit.
Have I mentioned I don't like people? :D

It's one of the conundrums of my life .... "I hate people ......... please come out and see me play!" :laughings:

Wifey got that new job and it could well be that I don't need to sell any of this crap in which case I'll keep it ..... stack it all up and see if I can get noise complaints!

I've only did the Craigslist thing one time, but it was good for me....I personally wouldn't have anyone that I don't know come to my house, I'd hate to have to use one of the guns I have here...LOL...Lots of weirdos out there, & you never know...

Off to work, still programming those fuckin' drums, but, I am making progress....:D

The majority of the time I have any dealings on craigslist the initial response is some cryptic weirdness. Even when the response sounds normal and sincere too often there's no follow through, and I end up pissed at myself for once again being so gullible as to be polite, mindful of making the other feel safe, including at times handing over my name and phone number. I've had some smooth transactions with decent folks, but most often i'm left scratching my head wondering what weird scheme i've potentially exposed myself to, with a side helping of getting a creepy feeling that I might have dodged a bullet when no further contact occurred.

I'd like to see Marshall stop fucking around with these little low watt toys and make some big amps with power scaling that don't require their customers to go broke buying them.

I've been investigating the DSL40C. They have a demo video on Youtube the same as they do for the DSL5C. You tell a difference in the sound if you listen to those two demos back to back. Noticeably fuller sound on the DSL40C. It's only $200 more than the DSL5C. Seems like potentially a good value for the home recordist.

All of the musical gear dealings I've had via CL have been great. I've scored big buying, selling, and trading. I've gotten the impression that most of my counterparts have been more fearful of me than I am of them. That's not to say I'm not wary all the time, but just remember it probably goes both ways. I've only had one guy act really weird on me, and even then the deal went down just fine. I'm certain he was scared out of his mind, but all the weirdness was on his part - wanting to meet at 6 am and shit.

So my own personal experience tips for CL deals:
Get as much of their personal info as you can before the deal without coming off creepy.
Meet in a very public place
Always try to bring a buddy - leave him in the car videotaping with a smartphone if possible
Jot down their license plate number if you can before you get out of the car
Keep at least a knife in your pocket.
Don't be afraid to walk out on a motherfucker

On the occasions that I've had to have people come over to try an amp or check out an engine - I'm not hauling an engine anywhere - I've only allowed them in as far as my garage. They don't get to see the rest of my house. If you go to someone else's house, let someone else know where you are, when you're gonna be there. Bring a buddy if you can and leave them in the car. Safety, bitches.

The DSL 40 is the amp my lead shredder buddy always plugs into when we go finger banging guitars about once a month. I think it's a pretty great amp. It's got all the features of the big boy DSL. The speaker isn't that special, but an upgrade there will make it a real killer IMO. Plug it into an extension cab and unleash hell. You could probably record some badass tracks with that thing.

Cool. Just seems like a great value. $700 on Sam Ash for what sounds to me like a great amp.

Lol. It isn't really. Whats a hassle about it?

Get their info - just ask for it during one of your pre-sale conversations.
Meet in a public place - you don't want them at your house, so you gotta meet somewhere. Have them come to one of your gigs.
"Try" to bring a buddy. You don't have to. Fly me in and I'll be your goon. :D
Jot down their license plat number - takes 5 seconds
Carry a knife - self explanatory
Walk if the deal aint right

Easy peezy.
