grooveyisland ...... that's very *ahem* groovy of you to offer pay and I thank you for your kind words.
Ya' know ....... there's no real requirement for anyone to have to actually be present anymore to get tracks to you. If there's something either of us could play that would be useful to you we could simply play it in our own studios and send you the files which would be easy for any decent engineer to import into your tunes. You could save all that money.

Yup, but could still pay us.

i understand

well i will see what the man says

im sure he knows whats best

Clip sounds great Greg, I'm sure it was loud as fuck in the room, but you're right, that's the only way to get the cranked tone, use a big amp and...crank it!!!!! I'm gonna start checking on some cabs in the next little while, I know where there's an Orange 4x12 w/V30's for $500, maybe even less, if the guy's still got it that is....I also know where there's another 2x12 & 4x12 (both Marshall's), but don't know what speakers are in either, & both are probably a little pricey....Again, the clip sounds great!!!

Groovyisland: You know what the guy at the studio is gonna tell you, right??? "You need to use these players", & "you need to do this/that/other, to give your track(s) a pro sound"....When in reality, you can do a really good job with Bob, Greg, & yourself....

Of course, have Bob/Greg/both do your guitar (and/or bass....Greg's a kickass drummer too), & take those tracks to the studio & have the engineer/mixer put 'em in the song. I'm sure Bob/Greg's tracks will sound as good as anything they're gonna do for you, IMHO....

As far as that goes, Greg does an excellent job mixing too, just saying, myself, I wouldn't go spend thousands of bucks when you can probably get similar results spending a lot less....depends on what Bob & Greg charge you though...:D

I'm no "pro" or anything (far from it actually), but I did mix a 5 song ep for a band from Colorado a couple years ago. They sent me the tracks via Dropbox, & I did the mixes in about 2 weeks, working on it in my spare time before/after work. I charged the band about $300 total (I actually wasn't gonna charge that much, $150, but the guitar player sent me a set of monitors because he said I'd spent too much time working on his songs, so just guessing, I ended up with about $300 total....)...I'm really not saying I'm interested in mixing your songs, I'm just saying you can get decent sounding tracks at a reasonable price...But, if you wanna spend a bunch of $$$, it's your call....

I tried to listen to your clip, but it kept taking me to my own Soundcloud page, dunno what's up with that, but I'd like to hear your stuff....

Haha, thanks dude. I was just goofing around and didn't even really put much thought into it and it turned out great for just a dumb ol pickslide. The mics are even in phase. I'd love to say "yeah I meant for it to be that epic" but that really was just one big happy accident. :D

An Orange 4x12 w/ V30's for $500 is a steal. Those cabs are pretty beefy and always way overpriced, so that's a good deal. A one watt amp might not even tickle that cab with those speakers though. I see Marshall 1960a/b cabs in my area for way less then 500 all the time. I paid $275 for mine and it's in excellent condition. I'm actually looking for an unloaded B cab. I've got two G12T-75s and two G12-65s just laying around doing nothing, and I bet they'd sound great together in a bottom cab. Real beefy. I'm wanting a true full stack just because I'm insane like that. Lol. But if that Orange price doesn't make you balk, look at Avatar Speakers. They'll make a cab with whatever speakers you want, with whatever tolex and grill cloth you want, for less or equal to that Orange cab. And I think the quality is fantastic. My 2x12 is an Avatar and it's very beefy. Very clean, precise, sturdy, well built. And it's got a convertible open/closed back. It also seems to be a little bigger than an average 2x12, which is cool.

Lol. Thanks for the kind words, but I'm pretty sure this guy isn't for real. :laughings:

just search soundcloud for the rolling dingleberries

theres 2 clips strange thing and dewdle

strange thing turned out like a brian eno kind of sound

minerman did you hear it

i dont really like the sound of the zoom g3

i was using the model of a marshall with a booster like greg does

I listened to your tracks today Groovy, honestly, I don't like the lead tone that much, the clean/chorus sound on the second clip could be very useable in a mix though, but the lead tone(s) just sound too "digital" to me, & that's saying a lot coming from me....

Never used the Zoom modeler you have, but I did use the ampsims/models in the HD8, & hated 'em to be honest....so, I really can't give any advice other than tweak, tweak, tweak dude....

I'm gonna post some tones in the next day or so, my old man's back in the hospital, so it may be Sunday before I get around to it....

Post up some more tones guys!!!

I'm on the hunt for a decent 1960B cab so I can have a true full blown stack. Do I need it? Obviously not, pretty much no one does, but fuck it. My life will be complete! Lol. I've found one for $300 but the guy hasn't responded yet. I also found a few others being sold as a head/cab package so I got my feelers out to see if they'll separate them for a sale. My ultimate goal with this is to use the whole stack live. No one rolls out a full Marshall stack for gigs in this town, but I fucking will. I'm bringing the sounds of rock and roll back to the people!

yeah yeah yeah

i would like to see a backline with 2 walls of marshalls

we would have to figure out a way to keep the stage volume down

or is that even possible

Doesn't matter. There's a wall of Marshalls. Gonna be a good show regardless.

I might do another tone thingy before I head off to college again. Just one last thing to record to satisfy me until I can record again!
